Chapter 8

She let out a soft groan, slowly opening her eyes. Looking around, she blinked a few times before gasping and sat up. Oh no, she back in this place again but was in a comfortable bed instead of a makeshift one. Blinking, she looked down at the blankets in shock before her eyes flickered over to the door. As if on cue, the door opened and a familiar tall male with blonde hair came in. Sitting up in the bed more, she was about to run only for him to hold up his hand. She was confused by this but watched him as he grabbed a nearby chair, pulled it over near her bed and sat down in it. After that, silence. She blinked and looked up to his eyes. Blue meeting Jade eyes. They stared at each other before she let out a sigh and looked down at the blankets her hands clutched onto.

". . . Wo bin ich?"

". . . Not in the dungeons."

She snickered at his reply, a small smile played on her face before it soon vanished. She looked over to the male before tilting her head. Opening her mouth, she stared at him as she slowly spoke. "Your. . . Name?"

" Erwin ", he replied back. She gave him a nod in acknowledgment before looking out of the window next to her. She gazed out the window for awhile before looking back to the male next to her. Sitting up more, she got on her knees in the bed as she faced him. Feeling her clothing a little bit light, she looked down to see she wore a shirt that had buttons on it. And judging from how the sleeves of it went over her hands, this wasn't hers.

"What. . . happened? Why. . . am I . . . back here?", she asked.

"After your fight with the titan, your body collapsed from exhaustion. After first, we were going to strike until Hanji came running out and used her body as a sheild to protect you."

" . . . Why?"

". . . She said that she understood why you wanted to leave.", he said. He stared at her for a minute before sighing and was about to stand up, only for her to try and get up but falling over right into him. He grabbed her and slowly pulled her to her feet before placing her back into the bed.

"I'm afraid you shouldn't try to get up. You used a lot after fighting with that titan.", he said.

She stared at him before nodding her head. Laying down, she sighed before rolling over to her side. She didn't understand why she felt like she could trust him but considering his calm like attitude, she could safely say that it was because of that. Who knows. Closing her eyes; she didn't want to think anymore about the subject so she decided to sleep on it. After all, she needed her energy the most right now.

Hanji walked through the halls, head down slightly as she continued remembering what had happened.

She ran as fast as she could, pushing past people before using her gear to get closer to the girl. "Hanji, stop!", she heard. Ignoring them, she ran over to the girl and quickly used her body as a shield. Everything was soon quiet as tension soon clouded the air around all of them. She stand her ground as she continued using her body as a shield, grabbing and holding the girl close to her. The wall of cadets was soon pushed open as Commander Erwin and Levi walked towards her.

"What is the meaning of th-"

"I understand now. I understand why she wanted to leave.", Hanji cut him off. Tears were in her eyes as she held the girl close to her, weeping slightly. "I understand."

Erwin said nothing but stared down at them both. Hanji crying slightly as the girl laid unconscious in her arms before a tear drop slide from her eye and down her cheek.

Hanji stopped in her tracks, taking off her glasses as she rubbed her eyes. Sniffling a little bit before placing her glasses on again. She soon tensed up when she heard a couple of voices from behind her.

"Hanji..."

Turning around, she looked to see Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. "Uh, Eren. Did you need something?", she asked, placing a smile on her face. Eren and Armin looked at her with concern before looking at each other. Sighing, Mikasa walked forward towards the crazed woman. "We should be asking you that. Ever since you brought her-"

"(Y/N). . . Her name is (Y/N).", Hanji said.

"(Y/N)?", Eren and Armin mumbled before looking at each other.

"Hmm, she told me. Don't really know why but she told me. Even after all those things I did to-...", Hanji looked down at the ground, lip trembling a little bit as she clenched her hands into fists. "Hanji?", Eren asked, slowly reaching his hand to her.

"Say, do you think we can still called this being Human? Are we still Humanity or did we already lost that title a long time ago?", She asked.

Eren and Armin were surprised and confused. Surprised that she would even asked them that and confused on why Humans and Humanity were brought into it while Mikasa just stayed quiet as she stared at the woman. Hanji was basically a mess. Placing a hand on her shoulder, Hanji looked up at her in confusion. "Don't give up.", Mikasa said.

Everyone seemed to calm down the next day. The girl was woken up to knocking on her door. Blinking, she let out a small yawn before slowly getting up and looked over to the door to see the same woman from before. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she sat up even more while stared at the woman. Hanji just gave her a bright smile, walked over to her. The girl took notice as she found the man from before come in with also the short male. She scoffed, crossed her arms and turned her head away from them. "Ahem. . . ", she heard.

Looking over her shoulder, Jade eyes stared at them all before they disappeared from their sight and were back gazing out of the window near her. "(Y/n). . .", she heard. Looking back over to them, she had realised that Hanji was the one who had called out to her. She glared at her until she remembered what Erwin had said. Looking down, she sighed before tossing the blanket away from her and got up. Stumbling over slightly, Hanji was the one who had quickly went over to her and helped her back.

She was so confused by these humans. First, they think of her as a threat and now they find fondness of her as if she had became their savior or something. "What do you humans want now?", she asked, getting irritated now. They - except for the short one- were surprised by her speaking formally like so as she gave them all glares. "First, you take me from my home. Second, you use me as a damn guinea pig and now, you all think of me as a savior?"

". . . We need your help.", Erwin said.

"Now, you need my help? *scoffs*", she glared at them before sighing and sat back down on her bed.

Running her hand through her hair, she let out another sigh before looking at them all, frowning. "Fine. . . what do you want?"
