It wasn't long before Anton Shudder came knocking on the sanctuary door as well, stumbling through the sanctuary.
With, gladly, his head attached to his body. The dead men celebrated greatly that night, just two nights since Ghastly had returned and the incident had happened.
Everyone was safe.
Everyone was happy, bar one.
And no one wanted to question why or how it was possible for this to happen, but questions had to be asked.Who better to ask than the two duo detectives?
"I'm just, it's not that I'm not grateful... But there has to be a reason! And I'm sure, you two can figure it out." Erskine proposed, sitting uncomfortably in his throne in front of the detectives, who both were still recovering.
"Yes, of course your majesty." Skulduggery mocked, standing up and waiting for Valkyrie to snap out of it, and stand as well.
She was lost in her own world again.
The duo left the Grand Mage alone, to fidget and fret his secret would be uncovered if someone else were to come alive.
He was terrified."You know, you don't have to come on this one if you'd like a break." Skulduggery murmured, breaking the silence between the corridors ahead of them. Valkyrie paused, like she was considering it, then smiled softly. "I'm coming. I'm just trying to gather my thoughts." She sighed, turning another corner. "You can always talk to me, you know that right?" The skeleton whispered, concern lacing his tone for his partner. "I know." She replied, but paused.
"Actually, if you don't mind, can I rant?" She asked eagerly waiting to get rid of the weight on her chest.
"Of course, go ahead."
"Well. I'm struggling with demons I shouldn't have, I mean, part of me knows Darquesse was uncontrollable sometimes, but a bigger part knows no matter what, Darquesse was me. Is me.
And it is guilt and anger and hurt, hate, embarrassment from the things I've done that leads me to do things I wouldn't have even considered a few years ago, not when I was alone in meek ridge and still fighting demons.
But it's manifested, into something worse. It's like this , this thing, is me now. It's replaced my old personality, and now all I think about is razor and shit! Thy can't be healthy, can it?" She paused, as they walked from the sanctuary outside, but Skulduggery turned to her as he intervened. "I know you probably already know this, but no matter what, I'm sticking with you. I've been there every time, and I'll always be there every time. And if it eventually gets to the point where you stop being stubborn and agree to get help, I'll be there as well.
Until the end, remember?" He finished, opening his arms for a hug.
The girl immediately embraced her friend, eager for his affection.
If only he knew how much those words had consoled her for the moment, even if she had more razors in her shoe.
