Chapter 5
I quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my body, wiping my glasses and hurrying out of the bathroom. I noticed the clothes that I prepared to wear were gone on the bed, and the door was open. Suddenly, I saw Lyle and Amber arguing outside the guest room.
I froze; my hair dripping wet, and I stood beside the door, staring nervously at them. Amber clutched my clothes, my underwear peeping from her hands. Lyle looked at me and shot me a look that told me to hide. My eyes widened and searched for a hiding place, thankfully spotting the cabinet that was big enough for me to fit in. I went inside, my heart hammering beneath my chest. I opened the cabinet slightly to see Amber and Lyle.
"What the hell is this?!" Amber shouted, rubbing my clothes in front of Lyle's face. "You have a girlfriend, Lyle? And you didn't even tell me!"
Lyle looked like he was about to faint, but he held himself together. I almost laughed out loud to find him wearing a pink apron that had a bear printing on it.
"I don't have a girlfriend, Amber. Those are my nanny's clothes." he said in a bored tone, looking at her with innocent eyes.
"Well your nanny sure is sexy to be wearing these kinds of sizes." Amber hissed, dumping my clothes on the floor. Lyle's nervous and innocent face turned into anger.
"Amber, we're not together, okay? Last night was a mistake."
Last night was a what?
There was a huge lump on my throat as I imagined what Lyle and Amber did last night, since I was too drunk to even know.
Amber's voice turned honey sweet and she took a step forward to Lyle, giving him the sweetest of her smiles.
"The problem is, Lyle, everyone thinks we're together, though it's not much of a problem for me." she said, her hands trailing on Lyle's chest, to his neck.
I almost wanted to vomit.
"Amber..." he trailed off, looking uncomfortable and irritated.
"Yes, Lyle?" she cooed, inching her face towards his. "You have a reputation to uphold. I want to be a part of that."
He froze and pulled her away from his body, his face showing a hint of impatience.
"You need to go. Now." Lyle said in his most serious voice that led Amber to stop moving. Finally, she composed herself and walked away from him, an unsatisfied expression on her face.
"Remember what I said, Lyle." she said in a sing song voice as Lyle followed her downstairs.
I scrambled out of the cabinet and quickly grabbed my clothes, threw it on the bed and hurried downstairs, wondering if Amber was still in the house. I spotted Lyle cooking in the kitchen, the familiar scent of pancakes entering my nose, causing my stomach to rumble again.
"You're just in time." Lyle said as he turned to me, carrying a plate of pancakes. His jaw dropped as I turned and looked out the window, searching for Amber.
"Is she gone?" I asked. I realized Lyle wasn't replying so I turned to face him and locked my eyes with his. Suddenly, he covered his eyes with his hands and turned away from me, wailing.
"You're in a towel, Cassandra!" he shouted.
Shit.

A few minutes later I was fully dressed and munching on Lyle's pancakes that miraculously tasted good.
"So... are you going to tell me what happened last night?" I asked as Lyle filled my glass with milk.
"Well," he started, taking off the apron. "Nathan told me you accidentally drank the glass of alcohol that he ordered for himself then you two did some dirty dancing which he really enjoyed, by the way. And then you ordered a shot of whatever that was, and then threw up five times, I think. And after that I spent my time looking for you and Nathan, and then I found the two of you afterwards, getting out of the bathroom. Nathan was practically carrying and dragging you back into the bathroom since you started taking off your clothes-"
"I WHAT?"
"You started taking off your shirt, okay?"
Oh my gosh.
I almost wanted to sink beneath the earth's core right then.
"Kidding."
I smacked him on the head with his apron, sending him laughing on the floor.
"You should've seen the look on your face, Cass! You looked like a teenager who just found out she was pregnant."
I scrunched my eyebrows. "How would you know that would be my reaction if I ever found out I was pregnant?"
He shrugged, sitting back on the stool beside me. "I watch a bit of Teen Mom. It amazes me, really, how you women perceive a child. I mean, wouldn't it be that if you tried to poop, the child would have a possibility to come out-"
"Lyle. Can you please continue telling me what happened last night now, please?" I exclaimed, putting a hand on my forehead.
"Okay," He cleared his throat, giving me an amused smile. "So Nathan dragged you back inside the bathroom because you started shouting at him, telling him to let you move your groove or something like that. So I ran to the both of you, carried you to my car then told Nathan to fuck off."
"I was awake, you know. Well, partially awake when you brought me to your car."
"Alright, so anyway, I brought you here afterwards since I remembered your grandparents weren't home for the week."
Lyle started cleaning the dishes and I slumped back on the chair, sighing aloud.
At least what happened last night wasn't really that horrible as I had imagined.
