Tap tap tap!
The sound of the falling rain brings you peace and you are filled with determination!

But what happens when the rain no longer brings you peace?
What happens when you're at a dead end?
What happens when you can't find something to bring you hope?
Does your determination deteriorate?

"Frisk."

A deep voice echoes in the darkness.

"Sans!"

The skeleton shakes, his hand reaching out.
White pupils disappear from San's eye sockets and his left eye is replaced with a cyan and yellow pupil with blue flames coming from it. Blue flames come from his left hand and suddenly there is an overwhelming feeling of pain.
This betrayal fills you with heartbreak and despair.

Crack!

A gasp escapes me as my eyes shoot open. My whole body is in pain, and I feel like I can't move. I feel very hot, yet I'm shaking like I'm cold. Tears roll down my cheeks as I take a few deep breaths and force myself to sit up.

Crack! Crack!

I jump and grip the bedsheets. My eyes land on the window and I notice that it's raining outside. The sound of the lighting must've woke me. I sigh as I wipe my tears away from my eyes and the dull pain leaves my body.

The clock then clicks, and I frown when I notice the time.

5:00AM

An hour too early, but I certainly cannot get back to sleep. I decide to slip out of Sans' coat and get ready, jumping into the shower to wake myself and wash that nightmare from my mind, though it doesn't seem to work.

During breakfast, I find myself thinking about it more and more. It distracted me so bad that I didn't even realize Toriel had set a piece of pie in front of me.

"Frisk?"

Her voice pulled me from my thoughts and I looked at her.

"Yes?"

"You haven't touched your pie," she chuckled. "You've been staring at it for five minutes now. Is something wrong?"

I suddenly realized this truth and sighed. "Sorry, I woke up really early today and didn't get much sleep. Just kind of tired."

Toriel smiled a soft smile. "If you want, you can go in late?"

"Oh no it's okay, I'll be alright." I smile as I take a bite of my pie. Toriel watches me for a second before nodding.

Once I finish my pie I grabbed my bag, umbrella and Sans' now cleaned coat that I washed with my extra hour, and went out the door. I stuffed Sans' coat into my bag as I walked. It wasn't as cold today as it was last night, so my long sleeved shirt was good enough.

Toriel had told me that the rain would turn to snow once the temperature dropped tonight. I couldn't wait for that. At least there was something to look forward to this morning.

The schoolyard was full of teenagers and kids, all filing into the school at once. I searched for the familiar face of the boy who took my book, and seen two students hugging. I heard these two students in particular had been fighting with each other. Seeing that these two had made up filled me with determination!

I finally found him.

He stood by the doors with a group of his friends. I took a deep breath as my grip on my umbrella handle tightened and walked towards him.

"Excuse me," I said to him. As he looked at me, I held my hand out to him. "My book please."

The boy raised an eyebrow and grinned as he looked down on me. He was quite tall and a year older than me, so he intimidated me a little, but I stayed determined.

"You mean this?" He said, pulling out a book, but it wasn't the one I was talking about. The book he held had a picture of a monster and human standing side by side. The title read, "Men and Monsters."

I frowned. "Where did you get that?"

"From your bag. Did you know on chapter 3 it talks about how human souls are much stronger than monster souls?"

"..."

"I'll take that as a yes. I assume you also know about how monsters can take human souls."

"Give both my books back now."

"Oh? Is Underdork getting worried that people are learning more and more ugly truths about her precious monsters?" A sinister laugh left the boy. "You can't hide the truth forever you know. Humans are seeing the evil intention of the monsters, and we will send them back to the Underground before they do any more damage."

He then scoffed. "Though, If I were in control, I'd kill them all instead of letting them live underground. Life was better without them anyways. Besides, all they want is our souls for power-"

SMACK!

I instantly slapped my hand across the boys face. My whole being shook, and anger boiled in my blood. I was absolutely outraged at what this boy was saying. Suddenly I felt a strong grip on my wrist, causing me to drop my umbrella. I was jerked towards the boy, before being thrown to the ground.
A surprised gasp left me as I hit the ground and his friends took a step backwards.

"Don't fucking touch me you Monster loving freak!" He spat before regaining his composure.

"I'll be off now, I have a book review to do and I don't have the energy to deal with filth." He then threw my books down and stomped on them before leaving me on the ground in the rain.

Tears filled my eyes, but I quickly blinked them away and pushed myself up off the cement. My arms had cuts and scrapes on them from the fall, but other than that I was alright.

Once I recollected my things, I went inside to speak with a teacher about this, but I soon regretted it after learning she felt the same way about monsters as the boy did. It didn't help that she knew of my past and relations with monsters either. The whole time I was telling her what had happened, she seemed to not care as much. Instead of punishing him right then and there, the teacher told me to go home and that she would take care of it later.

I had a feeling that this nightmare wouldn't be one that I could be woken up from. This nightmare was a reality. I couldn't go home though, and I couldn't tell Toriel. Instead, I went to the only person I thought I could go. I pulled out my phone as I left school property and texted Sans.
