It was on Monday night in southern Maryland that the announcement about the epidemic in Washington D.C aired on T.V. Mom was in the kitchen making dinner, my sister was across the room on the couch watching My Little Pony, and I was at our white and black kitchen table doing homework. My dad wasn't home from work yet so instantly my mom was worried.
"The T.V said the break out had started in D.C! Your dad is coming home from D.C!" She said after making my sister go get ready for bed.
"Don't worry mom, dad knows how to take care of himself and besides he on the road with other drivers. It's not like he is in the woods alone." I said sarcastically, trying my best to lighten the mood.
"That's true." She said shakily, but she still seemed worried.
"Mom," I said firmly. "Dad is going to be home in one piece in thirty minutes. That means he is in his own car and on route 235, which is almost always bustling full of cars."
"Your right," she said smiling. "He will be fine." But it didn't seem like she fully believed what I was telling her. Little did I know that in one hour, nobody would be fine.
