"Ok, New York City is that away," I said holding a half burned map. Luckily for us, the unburned half was the east coast side.
"Hold your horses," Greg said, looking at his wristwatch. "It's around three o'clock. And if we are going to survive out here we have to start setting up our shelters at around 3."
"Fine," I groaned. "I think you should be in charge of this Greg."
"Thanks Xander. I think we could easily sleep in the remains of the car. The only problem is warmth. Now I need you guys to hear me out ok?" Greg said nervously. We all looked at him with confused faces but nodded yes. "Ok so I think we all need to sleep by each other. Like as close as Anthony and I are." Greg said as he walked over and stood side by side with Anthony. "Also there needs to be a shift where one of us stays up and is on the look out for zombies." Greg finished. There was a silence over the group as everyone considered his idea. Timmy was the first to speak.
"I think it's a good plan," Timmy announced. There were a couple nods and Gregory beamed at the fact that he had come up with a plan that everyone liked.
"Ok Greg," I said. "What do we do to get ready for tonight?"
"Ok I want three groups of three, one group to find fire wood, one to get water, and the last group to stay here and try and make the trunk of the minivan as sheltered as possible." Greg took charge, assigning Cole, Timmy, and I to get water; Julia, Regan, and Jackie to get firewood; and Anthony, himself, and Alicia to weather proof the van as best they could."Guys, is it bad to be single?" Timmy suddenly asked as Cole, himself, and I walked through the woods looking for water.
"Nah honestly, Timmy if your single you can focus better on family and school and stuff," I reassured. "May I ask why?"
"I don't know it's just everyone is dating."
"Not Anthony or Julia," Cole pointed out as Timmy rolled his eyes and laughed.
"And besides, it is the zombie apocalypse, so I don't think girls should be on the top of your priorities." I chuckled, pushing Timmy as he chased after me. I ran for approximately 30 seconds then I almost fell into a rushing creek.
"I guess we found our water." I snickered.
"No dip!" Cole said sarcastically. The walk back to camp was uneventful as was water collecting. As we came back with nine water bottles full of clean water that Greg had purified with tablets that he got from Walmart, a roaring campfire welcomed us from the cold woods.
"Wow this is awesome!" Timmy said amazed. "Who did this?!"
"We all did it," Regan smiled. That night, after a fun campfire in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, we all crawled into the trunk of the minivan, and Cole took the first shift on watch duty. A few minutes after we had finally settled down, a scream broke the silence of the night. We all rushed out, guns and knives drawn , but instead of a slow, ambling corpse, a very much alive body was hurtling itself towards us.
"THANK GOD!!!! OTHER LIVING PEOPLE!!!!" A familiar voice screamed.
"Blake?" Alicia inquired.
"BLOCKE! (pronounce bl-OCK-ay) IS THAT YOU!" I shouted.
"YAS SENPAI ITS ME!" She yelled back as I laughed and Alicia, Julia, and Regan ran out to greet her.
