||CHAPTER 3||I had trouble finding the cafeteria because Mike didn't have time to show me around. I didn't blame him because we're late. I headed to where most of the people were heading which was most probably the cafeteria, since no one can live without food.
Just like my old school, the cafeteria was packed when I arrived. I had to say it didn't really surprise me.
I lined up according to the line, waiting for my turn to get some food. I took some pasta that looked delicious with mash potatoes and paid for it, hoping that it was worth the money.
After glancing around the cafeteria for the umpteenth time that it made my head dizzy, I still couldn't find Mike. Guess I would have to eat alone, not here but somewhere else.
"Hey. I'm guessing you can't find a place to sit?" A girl appeared beside me, holding a tray of food. I nodded lightly and she grabbed my hand, "Come on. Let's go somewhere else."
We arrived at what I guessed was the field, with empty bleachers. This place looked nice, and I thought that this would be a great place to enjoy my lunch peacefully, without people shouting and throwing food around.
"Sorry for pulling you here without introducing myself. Thought that maybe you could hear more clearly here." She took a hand out for me to shake after putting her tray of food down. "I'm Malika Del Rey. You can just call me Mia, that's what everyone call me. I heard that you're the new student."
Malika meant female ruler or queen, but she didn't look like the queen bee of the school. She looked friendly and kind. Judging a book by it's cover was bad, but screw that saying.
I shook her hand and introduced myself. "News travel fast here. I'm Summer Collins. Nice to meet you, Mia. And thanks for bringing me here, it's much more peaceful."
I sat down as Mia did the same. "Here. Try these cookies. There's only a certain amount of it. It's nice." I thanked her and took a bit of the cookie.
It was indeed delicious. But I had to say that the ones that Mike's mom made were better. Mia had to try it sometime.
"Not bad. But I've tasted better." I told her. She chuckled and raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?"
"Yep. Come on, eat up or we'll be late for class." I started eating my mash potatoes. It was better than the one in my old school. I took a spoon of the pasta and after swallowing a little, I spat everything out. It taste awful.
"How could they sell something so awful. This has really proved that looks could be deceiving." Mia laughed as she nodded. "Guessed I was too late to warn you." She put on a smirk on her face as I playfully hit her shoulders.
"Here's some pancake. It's edible but there's a place where they sell pancakes that are much better." She explained to me, handing me her pancakes.
We talked about my first day and how did it go. To be honest, it went pretty smoothly. Well, so far I think. I didn't cause any problems and I think that the teachers were fond of me. I know, self praise is a bloody disgrace. But yeah, I think I did pretty well with the teachers.
We had English later so we decided to walk together. Unfortunately for us, we lost track of time. When the bell rang, indicating that lunch was over, we literally ran to the cafeteria.
We handed the tray over to a lady which we suspected was the cleaner. "My locker is at the other end of the hallway so I guess we'll just meet at the middle then?"
