The Dark Hearts

Chapter Four

As Ant and the newly awake Tim get back to base they all but pass out at the door way the water they had brought with them went quick because they were supposed to refill at the survivor's camp, but of course everything had been destroyed. Luckily Hayle and Ang had gotten Dons message and had everything ready for them. Tim fell asleep again so Ant and Hayle brought him to the infirmary to wait for Donald to see what was wrong. "Where is Don?" Ant asked as they stepped out of the room. "He is still out fixing the tower with Kota, I don't know when they will be back", "shit, I have no idea what went wrong I didn't see any cut other then that one strange mark but their was only tier ones there so I don't know how they could have done that, we shouldn't have run in like that I knew my head wasn't clear, I could have gotten him killed... or worse" Ant sank to the floor and yelled "DAMN IT", "quiet down or you will wake him up" she said hushing him "and yes what you did was stupid", "Yeah I don't need you to tell me that I" "shut up and let me finish, it was stupid yeah sure, but every last one of us would have done the same thing, so stop kicking yourself for it you both got out of there with your lives, and you're lucky there were no larger tiers there or you might not have been able to do even that" he sat for a little while longer and let out a big breath "I almost killed my friend, I know he hasn't been here long but he is still part of Dark Heart" he said standing up "go get some sleep, you are on guard duty in the morning" Hayle said as he walked off.

"Hey you up yet" Ang said as she walked in the infirmary bringing food "Yeah I'm up, what happened where is Ant" he said trying to sit up before Ang stopped him "He is fine, he is on guard duty right now, how much do you remember" "I remember killing a lot of sabo and then I just fell, other than that I can't don't know" "how many were there" "there was about ten which means... some of the kids turned" "turned what do you mean" she said handing him the food. "Do you know what Sabo are Ang... they are humans that get infected, wherein the world have you been that you couldn't see that" Tim says a bit harshly. "I guess that makes sense... I'll just leave you to your food" she says quietly and walks out the door "Well that wasn't at all harsh Tim" Ant says sarcastically as he sat in the corner of the room. "wow when did you get here Ant" Tim said while jumping "long enough to hear the end of that conversation... well I should get going I am supposed to be on guard duty after all, Don should be back sometime tonight so your lazy ass will have to stay here till then I suggest you get some more sleep it's a great pass time". "Alright bud, I'll see you later" Tim says but Ant had already gone.

For hours Tim just sat there with his eyes wide open he knew he couldn't sleep he was too wired, "why didn't we get there quicker, we could have saved everyone, why, there were children in there as young as four, but all that was left was blood the children were no more as soon as they were infected but how long was that before they got there" all his thoughts raced through his head as remembered his own childhood unlike the others in dark heart he once had a large family there were times of happiness, and then everything fell into darkness, he tried to hold back tears, but he knew it wouldn't work, so he just sat there and cried silently waiting for sleep to take him as he tried to forget the past few days.
