Love or Wealth

Chapter 1

*10 years later*

"Chase my father" I'm still not mature for my age. "I'm coming for you" my father shouts. My father and I have a strong connection. My parents and I traveled out of our kingdom to have vacation.

"Be careful Vanessa" mother yelled. Mother was going to have another baby which is why we came out here. I was hiding a little farther than I was supposed to be. I could hear my parents yelling for me so I started to come out of my hiding position far enough so they could see me.

"Vanessa!" mother screamed. I turn around and there was a line of soldiers with arrows pointing at me. "Father! Father!" I screamed. My father came running for me. "David hurry" mother screamed. Father picked me up over his shoulder while the soldiers were getting ready to fire.

"David!" mother screamed. Father handed me to mother and she ran. She ran and ran and ran until we reached the horses. "Come on darling we must hurry" she said. We climbed on the horse and rode off.

We made it to our house that we are staying in. "Where's father?" I asked confused and scared. "He will be here soon hopefully" she said. I was confused as a 10 year old. Almost an hour past and he wasn't back yet. "Vanessa we are going home" mother said upset as if she were crying.

"But father isn't here" I said. "He won't be coming back......ever" mother said. Our carriage was ready but behind our little house were the soldiers again. "Hurry Liam they're here" mother said to our driver. "I'll try your majesty" he said.

We hurried off in silence. Mother wouldn't speak nor look up from the bottom of the carriage. I was still myself joyful and giddy but scared and confused. I never knew that was the last time I would leave the castle or see my father.
