Amori Reed has always been the type of girl to get it herself. Hand outs was something she simply didn't do. Being the only child for so long also made her vulnerable for love and affection. She knew love thanks to her grandmother but after she died it was nobody else left for her to get that from. Her father chose to disappear and her mother chose a man over her so all she'd known was disappointment. She was never the group of friends type but she was found by her sisters on her father's side mother at the age of 10. She grew to love them more than anything and she appreciated them so much. They all managed to graduate high school and college together.
Lucy (LuLu) Reed graduated to become a well known music producer with her own record company.
Calianna (Cali) Reed graduated to become a well known chef with her own restaurant.
Franchesca (Frankie) Reed graduated to become a top paid soap opera actress.
And last but not least Amori (RiRi) Reed became a well known stylist with her own boutique and hair and nail bar.
It was about time for lunch and she was in the salon today because it was their ritual to get pampered in her shop then go to Cali's for lunch and get into hot parties for the rest of the night thanks to one of their many connects. "You can not tell me that you're seriously happy in that situation." She heard once again about her current boyfriend Luca. He was lawyer and he may seemed boring due to his career but he was very adventurous and out going. They were always doing something but it always seemed to be something that interested him. "I admit he has his little flaws that can be corrected but you guys can't honestly say he isn't a really good guy." She said trying to defend him she said with a chuckle. Everyone was giggling. Lucy cleared her throat. "Honestly tho Ri, you're settling again. Now we're not saying drop your standards or lose them. Just look outside of the stuffy well to do types you've been settling for. Atlanta is full of eligible men. They may not all be well to do off but they are just as good as those men. Just give it a chance." Amori rolled her eyes. "She doesn't have to because she has someone like me catering to her every need. Afternoon ladies." She heard Luca say as he appeared with a dozen red roses in his hand. "Afternoon Luca." They all said in unison. She smiled brightly and kissed his lips with her arms wrapped around his neck. "Afternoon beautiful." He said against her lips. "Hi." She said with a smile. She accepted the roses and walked to put them in water, making a face at them as she walked away. "So Luca. What's new with you?" Frankie asked, dwelling on his name. He chuckled and took a seat. "I know all of you are trying to assess me and see if I'm really in it with Amori. I am. I'm not saying it to please you all. I really like where we are and i don't need you all filling her head with that finding better, bitter woman babble." He finished just as she arrived back in the front. All 3 women was now giving him the most evil look. "Watch yourself Luca." Cali told him. "What happened just that fast?" Amori asked confused. Lucy fanned her off. "Just a friendly little discussion." Lucy answered. "It was nice seeing you ladies. I'll talk to you tonight." Luca said pecking her lips then leaving. Amori looked to them with a raised eye brow. "He may be fine and all but I agree with LuLu. You can do soooo much damn better." Frankie told her with the others nodding in agreement. "Okay can we please get off my man and my relationship please.?" She said walking to finish getting her hair cut.
As they sat in the restaurant for lunch, having small chatter, the waitress came to the table with their wine as usual. "So guess who called me today." Cali said with a smile. "Spill it already." Frankie said impatiently. "Mommy. She said she would be coming to visit next weekend." Everybody smiled. "Parental inspection?" Lucy asked. "Well did you tell her I was fine? Or at least try to throw her off my trail this time?" Amori asked. Cali's smile began to slowly shrink. "She wasn't going for it Ri. I tried and I swore to her that everything was fine but she wasn't having it." Amori sighed deeply. She knew she had to be on her P's & Q's for the week. "Looks like parental inspection it is. But I will not be housing her this time. It's Cali's turn since she gave her the bomb to drop on everybody." Cali's mouth dropped. "I agree. We always get her so it's you or Lucy's turn." Frankie added. Cali sighed. "Fine. But Frankie is to pick her up from the airport and drop her off since I gotta play hostess." Cali added. "Lucy you have the errands." Amori added. Lucy groaned. I would've rathered the airport duty." She complained. They all started giggling.
Later that night as they mingled in the party the all decided to get drinks at the bar. "Well if it isn't my favorite sisters." The bartender Jerrod said with a smirk as the 4 took a seat. "The usual?" He asked before they could order. "Just make mines a little stronger tonight." Amori told him. He chuckled and nodded. After drinks they headed to the dance floor. After a while Amori became exhausted and decided to call it a night. She'd finally sobered up enough to head home and get some rest for work tomorrow. She climbed in her car and went straight home. After announcing her arrival she made her way inside, showered and crashed.
Saturday morning Amori awakened with a pounding headache and a warm body beside her. She jumped from her position only to see it was Luca. She took a deep breath and got ready for work while he slept in on his off day. Her phone began to ring as she made her way up the side walk from the coffee shop to her boutique. "Hello?" She answered on the first ring. "So there's something I forgot to mention yesterday." Cali said into the phone as she made her way into the store. "And what might that be Cal?" She asked sifting through her bag. "Amori?!" She heard in a mellow voice. She looked up to see non other than her forever crush and child hood best friend. "Dallas?" She said. "Yeah he came looking for you yesterday. Bye." Cali quickly hung up the phone. Amori placed it inside her bag. "What are you doing here?" She asked as she made her way towards her office, motioning for him to follow.
"Actually I just moved back in town. Thought I'd stop by and see an old friend." He replied with a charming smile. "After 6 years of no contact I didn't know I was still considered as a friend." She replied as they sat at the table in her office. "Come on Amori. You've always been my friend since you first came to town. Time and distance won't change that." He said sincerely. "You missed my graduation Dallas. I was there for yours but the second I was about to approach you, Erica swooped in always. You missed my opening of the salon and boutique so sue me for not feeling exactly like a friend." Dallas sighed. "Okay. I deserved that." Dallas looked at her with a small smile. "Lemme make it up to you." Amori looked with a raised eyebrow. "It's not necessary Dallas. We're not kids anymore." She told him. He watched her for a few seconds before speaking. "It's a Saturday and your best friend of 15 years is literally in your face willing to do whatever for your forgiveness and yet we're still sitting here." Amori rolled her eyes.
"Guilt doesn't change things and neither does bribery." She told him, about to leave him there. He grabbed her hand. "I'm doing neither. I just wanna catch up. I promise. 6 years is too long." She sighed deeply from his begging. Her phone rang, displaying Luca on the screen. "Go ahead." He told her and responded to some texts while waiting. "Hey beautiful." She heard when she picked up. "Hi." She said calmly. "I'm guessing you went into work today?" He asked a little disappointed. Amori looked over to Dallas and she knew there was no way she could tell him no. "Actually, I'm on my way out with a friend. We haven't seen each other in a while so we're gonna do some catching up." He nodded tho she couldn't see. "Guess I'll talk to you later. Have fun." Luca told her. "We will." Amori said hanging up then phone up to see the look on Dallas face. "Where to first?" She asked as the smirk spread into a full smile. All she remembered at this point was being a love struck kid and boy was it happening again.
