It was the middle of the night, Dallas and I were in the bed asleep when it began to storm. I heard banging at the front door so I went down stairs while Dallas slept. Only my family usually popped up in the middle of the night. I looked out the peephole to see a very drunk Luca. I sighed and opened the door. "Luca what are you doing?" I asked calmly. He looked over to me as he took a seat on the bench. "You said there was nothing going on." He finally said as we sat in silence. "I loved you A'Mori." He stated. "I was prepared to give you any and everything. The sky if I could." He rambled on. I placed a comforting hand on his. "You are a good man. You gave me nothing less than and the woman you are meant to spend the rest of your life with is beyond lucky. But that woman isn't me. I have love for you Luca. You made me feel like the only woman in the world but I also felt smothered and like you really didn't trust me. I realized I wasn't in love with you which is why I couldn't let this keep going. I would rather give you a few weeks of heartache than a life time a misery. Just keep leading with your heart Luca. You'll find the perfect woman for you." He looks at me sadly but nodded his head understanding that this was officially done. "I hope you are happy Mori." He said with the saddest heart broken smile before leaving.
Amori made her way inside and secured the door. She began walking down the hall and heard Dallas speak. "Everything okay?" He asked motioning to the door. She knew he heard them but she was okay with it. She walks up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck and reached on her tip toes to kiss his lips gently. "Better than okay. Let's go back to bed. It's storming and I wanna cuddle." She said to him. His eyes searched hers intensely. "Talk to me." She told him as he stared at her. "I'm just feeling a little off. It's probably just lack of sleep." He said changing to a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. She placed both her hands on his face and looked him in his eyes. "It's always going to be you Dallas. This is new territory for both of us. I'm terrified but I'm also brave enough to weather whatever is thrown at us because you're my best friend and I've always been able to get through anything with you by my side. I love you so you have nothing to worry about." She tells him. His face softened and he leaned down to give her a deep kiss. He picked her up, instantly wrapping her legs around his waist as he walked them back to the bed room.
A few days later they pull up to Amori's place after picking up Emmett. "I still have to disagree. Spider man will always be the most underrated super hero." She defends after returning from a day date to the movies to see the most recent Spider man. Dallas smiled and looked at her. "Do you want to stay with us tonight?" He asked, taking her by surprise. He studied her run of emotions across her face and saw the many thoughts swirling behind her eyes. "Only if you're ready." He added genuinely to ease her worry. That statement alone solidified her answer. She smiled sweetly, gently planting a soft kiss on his lips. "I'll go get my bag." She replied as her forehead rested against his. He nodded and planted a gentle kiss on her cheek before she looked back at Emmet then to Dallas. "I'll be right back." She assured before climbing out of the truck.
A'Mori came upon her front door , she noticed it was ajar. She was immediately cautious, causing her to catch the stare of an alerted Dallas. He looked back at a sleeping Emmett then back to A'Mori. He stepped outside the car and looked back at Emmett once more. "What's wrong Mori?" He asked concerned. "My door is open." She answered. "Go to the truck with Emmett. Make sure you lock the door. I'll go check the house." He said pulling her back to the truck and placing her inside, grabbing his pistol from the glove box, locked them inside and went to check the house. This wasn't his first encounter with home invasion. Erica was so strung out, her drug dealer broke into their apartment to pay off a debt she owed.
He raised his pistol to aim for anyone who tried to attack. Instantly he could see her place was trashed. Mirrors broken, walls spray painted with home wrecker, selfish, whore, die, etc. in multiple colors on almost every wall. Her plants were thrown every where, dishes broken; food thrown on the walls, it was heartbreaking to see because it was only 2 people capable of something so devious. Her bed room had clothes strewn everywhere. He didn't know how to tell her she'd been violated so bad so instead he packed her a bag with what he could salvage and take her to get whatever she needed. He was more concerned about her safety. Everything else could be replaced. He saw her alarm system destroyed. He knew what he was going to do next. He stepped to the door to see A'Mori approaching the officers. He held his hands in the air because he knew they clocked the him already. "Don't shoot. I'm her boyfriend. That's my son in the truck there. I just took a walk through. I have a license for the gun and I have ID." He said as one officer made his way to the porch with his gun pointed. "I'm handing over my weapon and I'm going to grab my ID." He stated clearly. "He's only here to help me. He's my boyfriend officers. Please don't hurt him." She begged as she watched more terrified about this than the break in. "He checks out." The other officer yelled as he returned the ID and weapon. Dallas took a deep breath and walked over to A'Mori with a duffle bag as the officer who approached him did a sweep of the house while the other talked to her. After giving their statements they made their way to the truck to wait. "How bad is it?" She asked teary eyed. He sighed and rubbed his thumb across her tear stained cheek. "It's going to need a lot of work baby but don't worry, just let me handle it." He said in comfort. She was tired. Tired of fighting, being strong and defending herself, she wanted someone else to take on the work and he was offering so she graciously accepted. She nodded sadly with nothing else to say other than a whispered thank you as the began to back out of the driveway.
Dallas pulled into the drive way of the house he had built last year. He'd been staying at his parents until a couple days ago. He wanted to surprise A'Mori tonight which is why he asked her to stay. He was more than elated that she agreed. He gently shook her awake. She looked at him with a sad, tired like smile. She stretched and finally began taking in her surroundings. "Where are we? Who's house are we at?" She fired back to back, making him chuckle at the child like way she spoke. "It's home. Let's go inside. It's been a rough day and I'm sure you could use a nice bubble bath." He suggested which instantly caught her attention. They made their way inside and it made his heart swell to see her eyes wander in amazement at her surroundings. It was a beautifully decorated house and the halls seemed to go on for miles. "Follow me." He said as he carried Emmett and her duffle bag upstairs. She continued to follow with no questions asked. "All of this is yours?" She asked as she stood in the giant windows only seeing privacy and land for miles. He chuckled and nodded as he made his way beside her. "This is incredible Dallas." She said with a smile on her face. "I'm so proud of you." She said as she looked at him. He took a breath like she had just given him the very life force he had needed. He smiled and gently grabbed her hand. "I love you A'Mori." He said boldly. "I know this may all seem crazy but you are it for me. Always have been. I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't have you always in my corner." He licked his lips and sighed. "Just...Please don't give up on us." He said softly. She placed her hands around his neck and gently kissed his cheek. "I'm going to always be right here. Complicated exes and all." She replied causing him to chuckle.
After a well needed shower, A'Mori made her way downstairs to the smell of food. Dallas was definitely a good cook like his mother. Her stomach growled a little, earning a chuckle from Dallas as she took a seat. Her hair was a curly mess and she smelled amazing. Dallas senses was on high alert and he became well aware of her presence and every movement she made. He placed a plate in front of her. It smelled amazing. It was alfredo pasta with salmon and garlic knots. One of her favorites. Dallas was very well versed in the language of A'Mori and she was loving and indulging every bit of it. She felt warmth spread through her as he kissed the side of her head and took a seat beside her as he offered her a glass of wine with her meal. It was definitely the little things that got her the most. She felt warmth and happiness radiate through her. Dallas was her home and she was right where she needed to be.
