POV: Ani (Still Ani.)
I stood up while placing my mask back on. "Let go of her."
My red hair swayed in the wind, and I felt more eyes on my than I ever had in my entire life. I don't care if I'm speaking to a nobleman. These noblemen don't deserve my respect nor anyone else. Walter looked at me from the corner of his eye. There was an almost unnoticeable smile on his face.
It unnerved me.
"Sir Walter, I'll deal with this one! This type of disobedient servant never sell anyways." The bearded bandit pressed one of his feet on to the corpse's stomach and yanked the spear out of the chest. Small drops of blood splatter his face and clothes.
Without wasting time, I forcibly pulled Walter's hand off of the little girl's wrist. The little girl fell on her bottom on the wagon's wooden boards. Walter tried grabbing her again, but I hit his hand away as she hurriedly crawled to another servant.
He looked at me with a curious expression. "What a—"
I didn't wait for him to continue speaking. I jammed my elbow in his chest—knocking the air out of his lungs and shoved him off of the wagon. The startled bandit was right behind him and fell onto the dirt road with Walter on top. I hurried to the front of the wagon and whipped the reins on the horses.
Am I out of my right mind?
They got up and went onto their horses and followed after us. The servants all mumbled and whispered behind me as horses of our wagon ran at full speed.
Am I condemning the majority by risking all for one?
No. It's not time to think of trivial things. I saved a little girl from the hands of two men who killed a person. The image of the deceased Deliverer appeared in my mind.
Even though he was unimportant to the bandit and Walter, every life is precious in their own unique way, even a servant's life is precious.
