POV: Ani
Because there wasn't anyone else beside servants, everyone unrestrictedly started to cheer except me. I smiled. I haven't heard the happiness-filled voices of servants for a long time. The servants got up and gathered around the person in the green cloak. All of their masks were off. They looked like... normal people.
I sat motionless with an empty, sinking in my stomach as I realized that in the near future, all of these servants in front of me were just going to go back into the continuous cycle of servitude. We were just things, merchandise.
It'll be the same for me too. I'll be ordered around. Then, I'll run away and be recaptured. Then I'll be sold. Everything will repeat again—over and over.
Until, my luck dies out that is, and I get punished for running away.
I hopped off the wagon forming a small dust cloud around my feet. So why not run away now? It's the perfect chance. I adjusted the wooden mask on my face and while hoping no one would notice me, I ran off the road into the fields opposite from the one that Walter went into.
I pushed aside the grain stalks away in front of me, making a pathway as I ran. It was nearly twenty minutes until the darkness overcame everything.
I yelled out as my feet got stuck on a root, and I slammed my head onto the soggy dirt ground. As I tried getting up, I realized that I pulled a muscle in my left ankle. I clenched my teeth together from the pain and stood up on one feet.
I scoffed at my carelessness. I should've stopped running when it was dark enough so that I couldn't see my feet, but I was too busy trying to increase the distance between the other servants and me. I looked around but all I saw were trees. I ended up entering a small forest.
I limped aimlessly until I came into a clearing. A large dark shadow came walking towards me. Petrified, I was ready to run despite my ankle. I stopped when heard a whiny coming from it. It was just a horse without a rider. When it came close enough to me, I held onto its large snout trying to feel for the reins. It whinnied again much louder and used it snout to push me.
"Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?"
It kept pushing me as if it was leading me somewhere. I tried pushing back. Who horse could this be besides the dead bearded bandit's or... Walter?

A/N: I thought I'll get more readers, but it turns out my book's language was labeled as Romaji or something like that and not English. Haha and whoops again.
