'So we're friends now, when do the benefits kick in?'
Chapter 4 | The Party
"So, it was that bad, huh?" Sean mutter as he steers the car with one hand and runs his other hand through his brown locks. Amelia was sitting in the backseat with her head beside mine as she leans forward to listen.
I rested my head on the window and gazed through the window with a frown. "Yeah. It was literally an absolute disaster and I'm pretty sure the press will find out about it soon." I sighed, watching the passing cars and the dark blue sky.
"I'm sorry to say this but your mom really has changed." Amelia says softly, putting a hand on my shoulder and I nodded, agreeing with her after a few seconds of thinking. "But maybe she has her reasons? Her career just seems to be really important to her but maybe there's a reason behind it?"
"Like what?"
"I don't know but I think you should speak to her." Amelia mutters and I scoff with an eye roll.
"I'm not talking to her." They both sigh and I stare ahead with anger.
We arrived at Xander's house in a couple of minutes and instantly I heard Amelia sigh in awe at his large mansion. It was colored crystal white and had elegant gold designs that complimented the house a lot. There also happened to be a beautiful gate that had the name 'Rivers' written which also happened to his generations surname. His family happened to be the main founders of this side of town along with a few others so he was pretty well known to everyone.
I did occasionally see him at dinner parties that were hosted by other rich families but just like me, he didn't fit in with this crowd so usually on these occasions, I'd hang out with him and we'd normally only end up getting in trouble. Although I tried to resist being friends with him, it was just really hard considering he was quite a good guy and being hot as hell didn't exactly help the situation.
I looked back at Amelia who was still staring in awe at the house and I shoved her and she snapped her eyes to me. "You alright there?" I teased and she narrowed her eyes at me, but they softened after a second.
"You sure you want to do this Skyler?" She said. "You've pretty much had a sucky day and I think you'll deal better with it if you just slept rather than drowning your problems in alcohol." I sighed in annoyance and tilted my head away from her and looked at the side view mirror and pulled out my red lipstick from my purse.
"I'm fine and I'm going." I applied a thick layer and puckered my lips playfully as I looked back at Sean. "Do I look okay?"
Sean chuckled and gave me a nod. "You both look amazingly hot." Sean winks at both of us and I laughed. I looked over at Amelia and almost cried with anger when she just continued to look at me with what I think would be disappointment and annoyance.
"Amelia, stop it. I need to go or else I'll just stay in my room for the next week and begin making dents into the wall from punching it." I gave her a stern look and she sighed in defeat.
"Fine, but please don't drink too much."
"Wouldn't bet on that, babe." I shot her a grin and stepped out of the car and immediately the cool summer breeze makes contact with my body and I sighed in relief that it wasn't too hot.
Hot weather and crowded parties were just not my thing.
My eyes wander over the porch of Xander's house and I heard Amelia groan in disgust when her eyes fell onto the half naked couples making out, crazy drunkards literally peeing on the grass and wild party animals practically puking in the nearby decorations outside the house.
