*This story begins at Season 3, Episode 15, just after Merle tries to stop the Governor.
° In this fan-fiction, Beth is not dead. She managed to make it out of the hospital before Rick and the others even got there. She did not leave Carol behind. Carol showed up at the hospital after Beth escaped and all events that happened during the trade happened, only Beth wasn't there. When Daryl realized this, he shot Dawn out of anger and frustration. I'm not sure what age Beth is in the show, but she is seventeen in this fan-fiction, two years younger than Zeke, my main male character.
° Merle is not dead either. All of the events that led to his death in the show happened, but when the Governor found him hiding in the shed, Merle had managed to knock him down and run out the door, even with a bullet in his chest. It was just a graze and missed anything important. He found a car with a little gas, was able to hot-wire it, and got away. He was going to die, with his gunshot wound and two missing fingers, but Storm found him and helped him the best she could. He lived and he changed. He isn't the Merle you used to know. He's better now.
° I don't know exactly how old Carl is in the show, but in my story, he's fifteen, almost sixteen. I think that sounds about right if you do the math, although I'm not certain how many years have passed in the show.
