I bolted to the door of the store room. It was stuck. I punched it as hard as I could. It still wouldn't open. I punched it again, and again, but it was no use. By now I had caught the attention of the other guests. My dad was still sitting on the couch, eating cheese.
I kicked the door as hard as I could. It did nothing. I kept kicking it as hard as I could.
Why wasn't this door breaking? I was pretty strong compared to a mortal. I was even strong for a half breed. So why hasn't this door snapped in half?
Ernest ran over to me and started kicking as well.
''Keep kicking! This door is bound to snap any minute!'' he shouted to me.
''That's it!'' I yelled, backing away from the door. I knew the room was big enough for a medium dragon to at lease walk in. The ceiling was high enough too. That was all I need to know.
I transformed into my dragon form and backed away, preparing to charge.
I backed up about ten feet, and charged the door. I rammed into the door as hard as I could.
It still didn't open.
I started clawing at the door with my massive claws. I was not giving up. I clawed and bit the door, but it still was no use.
I backed up to charge the door again. It was bound to open this time.
I charged with all the force that I had.
Click
I hit the door and it flung open. I transformed back in mid air to prevent any further damage.
Ah, I love this amulet.
I landed on my feet as Ernest and Jeffrey rushed in. Ernest ran around the room, searching for Mr. Fox. Jeffrey ran over to me.
''Are you okay?'' he asked, helping me up.
''Does it look like I care if I am or not? Don't worry about me and search the room for Mr. Fox!'' I snapped at him.
He obeyed. I ran around the room searching. Ernest was on the west side, Jeffrey was on the north side. I went to the east.
I ran along the rows of stored beverages and spare food.
It smelled like a wet cave in here. I turned the corner of the row of cider and ran down the dark row. It would be pitch black for other people, but my eyes adjust quickly. I ran down the row and found an open door at the end of it. I ran into the room to see Mr. Fox on the floor.
He wasn't moving. I couldn't hear him breathing either. There was blood all over his clothes and a lot more on the floor as well.
I ran over to him.
Dead. Just as I suspected.
I turned him over to see a knife that was stabbed right through his heart.
It was my knife. I bolted my hand to my sheathe to see it was my knife that had been stabbed into his chest.
How was this possible? I had it with me the whole time! There wasn't any chance anyone could of stolen it! This had to be a trick!
I ran outside of the room.
''Shadow! Did you find anything?'' Jeffrey asked as he ran over to me.
''Guard this room! Don't let anyone in or out! I mean it!'' I yelled as I ran down the row.
I ran outside of the room and to the door of the mansion. I put a fire lock spell on the door. I ran around and did the same to all of the windows.
I had to make sure no one got out.
I ran back to the store room. Jeffrey was still keeping guard at the door. I ran inside or the room and knelt down beside Mr. Fox's dead body.
I put on my gloves. I didn't want to leave anymore finger prints.
I pulled out the knife from Mr. Fox's chest and sniffed the handle.
It smelled like my gloves, Mr. Fox's blood, and the metal of the knife.
No one else's scent was on the knife.
They were also using gloves.
I grabbed the cloth I always carry around and cleaned the blood from my knife. I put the knife back into it's sheathe and got up.
I just stood there, taking in my surroundings. There was a closet by the east wall. There was a cider rack of Mr. Fox's most prized cider. There were a few sacks around, and that was it. It was also strangely cold in the room.
I took off my cape and jacket. I could feel a breeze coming from the closet. I rushed over to it and opened it.
It was empty.
I put my cape and jacket back on and walked out of the room with my head down.
I din't sat a word as Jeffrey followed me to the door of the store room.
''Did you find out anything?"' he asked.
''They somehow stole my knife and used it to kill Mr. Fox. There wasn't even a scent left behind,'' said with my head still bowed.
''Did you find anything else out?''
I paused.'' They escaped.''
I looked down at the door nob of the store room. It had a purple aura to it.
Someone had used magic to lock the door.
