I'm sitting on my bed, my Beats pulled up over my ears, doing my homework. Well, pretending to. I'm more drumming on my notebook and writing lyrics than I am working on calculus equations. But, hey, at least I'm getting something done. I need to make songs for our- "our" meaning Jack and I- new album. I'm still lost in my train of thought, so I don't notice when my bedroom door opens until someone is tugging off my Beats.
"Hey! What are you doi-!" I pause, then register who it is. "Ja-ack!" My voice comes out sounding whiny and excited and I hate it, but I am excited to see Jack. He's been gone for a week, visiting out of state family.
"Hey, JJ!" Jack flashes his award winning smile and I scoff. I hate being called JJ, but it's the only way people could not get us confused without calling us by our last names. And our last names are better than some stupid childhood nickname like "JJ". Plus, his smile is great. It's unearthly, it's light a star went and full on supernova-ed in his mouth.
I pause my music and toss my things aside, making room for Jack to sit.
"Johnson." I correct him. "I thought you weren't coming back until next week?"
"Sorry, Johnson. I was, but I just missed you too much..." He mocks a kissy face and makes his voice go high pitched at the "I just missed you" part, which tells me he's just joking. But I know he's not, not really. Of course he missed me, who wouldn't? I'm pretty freaking adorable.
"I know you did, Gilinsky. Did you have fun?" I tense up as Jack thumbs my notebook. I'm not sure why, he's gonna see all my lyrics anyways when we record in the studio later.
"Pfft. PFFT! No. Worst week of my life! Madison broke up with me, cause she was cheating! What a drag," Jack rolls his eyes, but he doesn't seem too hurt by Madison's betrayal.
I can't help but to feel a spike of pleasure at Jack's words: it meant he was available again.
"Oh. Sorry bro," Instead of voicing my feelings, I play it cool. That's my motto, basically. Always play it cool.
"It's fine. Like I said, she was cheating on me." Jack shrugged, then abruptly changed the subject. "Sam says there's a party later tonight. Wanna go? Could be fun. You might get laid," Jack smirks and winks at me, and I'm not sure if he means I'm gonna get laid by him or if he's just being supportive. I've read the fanfictions that our girls write, (sue me, I want to be with Gilinksy even if the only way I can is through poorly written gay love stories about us.) And I know that almost every time we hook up, it's because we're drunk. Hopefully, tonight is not like that. Hopefully tonight, we'll be high instead.
Only kidding.
No I'm not.
"Sure. I gotta write songs for the album though," I say.
"Oh, forget the album for one night! You're always working. I wanna spend time with you again, I wanna have fun," Jack sticks out his lower lip at me and makes his eyes go glossy and big, and I can't resist the urge to say yes. I almost can't resist the urge to kiss him, either. But I do. Ten points for me.
"Fine. We'll have 'fun'." I smile, and so does Jack. Tonight could be... well, interesting.
