A boy and a girl sit on a roof watching the night sky. She says nothing at all, but simply stares upward into the dark sky and watches, with sad eyes the slow dance of the infinite stars. Don't you hate the dark? The boy asked her. She then responded,
Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night. Life is but a walking shadow. I feel all shadows of the universe multiplied deep inside my skin. For my past I know nothing with any certainty but the sight of stars makes me dream. I saw a shooting star tonight. It was beautiful, but I am full of sorrow for it. Because it is a terrible to be cast from the heavens never to return to them. I feel like that sometimes... I fell from the heavens and am trapped here in this place, that is how my soul feels. I want to join the stars in the heavens. Yet I am all but a shadow longing for the light only to fade once I've obtained my long desire. But I would rather fade in the light than sit in the darkness.
