"Thanks, Granger." He smiled. A real smile this time. He had never been given a gift that was thought about. He felt overjoyed that someone had put thought into it. He was so happy that he leaned over to Hermione and kissed her.
Draco Malfoy kissed Hermione Granger.
-------------
His lips stayed on Hermione's, she didn't know what to do or think but kissed him back. She didn't know why or what made her but she found it quite enjoyable.
'Draco kissed me.' That thought popped into her head and she found it funny. She tried so hard to contain her laughter but had to pull away laughing. He looked at her with the Malfoy smirk.
"Granger, what's so funny?" He asked playfully.
"You kissed me," she laughed some more, "you actually kissed me." She sat up and held one of his hands. She didn't even notice what she was doing. All Draco saw was a very pretty Hermione Granger smiling at him and holding his hand.
"I know but why did you start laughing?" His smirk was turning into a smile. A real, genuine smile.
"I don't know," she laughed some more but stopped after a few seconds. All she did was smile at him. She felt happy, happier than she ever felt before.
"It was a thank you, you know? A thank you for the book. Do you want to start the essay for Snape?"
"Oh. Oh yeah!" She completely forgot about the homework. She and draco walked into their room and started working. A good 2 hours later the essay was finished.
"Well that was-" Draco began but was interupted by Hermione.
"-tiring!" She looked at him and smiled. "Thank you, I had fun."
"You're welcome, it's lunch soon. Want to go down?"
"Yeah, I'm getting hungry." They both made their way into the common room, Harry was sitting there reading the Quibbler.
"Quidditch practice was short today with our keeper gone. Also it was beginning to hail and we couldn't be bothered to play today." Harry said as if nothing had happened. "Want to grab some lunch?" He still didn't put down the Quibbler.
"Sure?" Hermione's eyebrow was raised, she didn't know what was wrong with him. He finally put down his newspaper and then the three of them walked down to the great Hall. Like breakfast, Draco sat at the Griffindor table. Harry seemed normal again. This time it wasn't awkward, they were laughing and smiling. Every house looked over at them with confused faces. After lunch, they headed back to the common room. Ginny came back at last period because it was a free period for her. She sat with the others and joined in on the conversation. A half hour later, Pansy, Blaise and Luna came in and started talking too. Just before it was dinner, the group had basically split up without knowing it. The girls sat in one corner and the boys in the other.
They all became closer, all their pasts were forgotten about. When it came to dinner time, all the couples join hands except for Hermione, Draco and Luna. Hermione and Draco because they felt a bit awkward and Luna because her fiance is not there.
Draco and Hermione Walked side by side, every few seconds their hands would brush. Willingly, Draco held Hermiones hand. She was a bit reluctant but let him. When they walked into the great hall, all eyes were on them. The group ignored the stares and whispers becuae they got used to it and sat at the end of the Gryffindor table.
"7th and 6th years, please stay for an announcement. Other years please go back to your common room." Called out the headmistress. The group sat there and watched the hall clear out. Hermione held Dracos hand under the table.
"Next Saturday, we are hosting a ball. This Saturday, Sunday and after school next week there will be a Hogsmeade trip. Only senior years are allowed out on weekdays for 2 hours. That's all, dismissed."
"Hey! Guys! Should we all go dress shopping together on Saturday?" Said an excited Ginny.
"That's sounds great! We definitely should!" Said Pansy.
"That would be lovely! But I might not have a date?" Answered Luna.
"Oh you will! Someone might need a date, don't worry Luna." Replied Hermione. "And we could always go as a group." She reassured her friend.
"So that's settled then! Dress shopping this Saturday!" Squealed Pansy.
"Can't wait!" Hermione and Lunan said at the same time.
"Its going to so fun!" Said Ginny.
----------------
"So what colour are you planning on wearing to the ball?" Draco asked Hermione. They were in their room and getting ready for bed. She was sitting at her vanity table brushing her hair.
"I don't know, there's so many to choose from!" Replied Hermione.
"Well I think a dark green would suit you." He added a playful smirk as he finished the sentence.
"Thanks, I'll keep it in thought." She laughed.
"Okay. Okay. I was wanting to ask this for a while now. When did you and Pansy become.. Friends?!"
"Oh. Ohhh. Quite recently, she's much nicer than I had expected. We're actually quite close now."
"Wow. That's a turn nobody expected!" He joked. She rolled her eyes.
The pair talked for an hour before they both went to bed. Each of them slept with smiles on their faces, they were both happy.
