Singing.

It was the singing that woke me. It was soft and sweet in my ears, but still loud enough to wake me. I rose up slowly, my sheets falling from my chest and down past my legs.

I closed my eyes and listened intently, it was a woman's voice accompanied by a slow drum beat. Her voice was beautiful and slow, beckoning me. My left leg touched down to the cool wood and was soon joined by my right, my body lifting on its own accord and crossing the room to the white painted door.

I crept down the hallway, my feet touching and leaving the ground soundlessly as I followed the woman's voice. Her melody grew louder and the drums pace quickened as I began to race down the stairs at an impossible speed and out the door.

The night air was cool but manageable in my bed time state, but my feet were bare as I raced down the street and into the tree line. I had no choice now, I had to find where her voice was coming from, my body wasn't in my own possession anymore and for some reason that wasn't bothering me.

I had no sense of time, and my only source of light was the full moon above that was barely filtering through the tree branches. I didn't have a clue of where I was going, but only the knowledge that her voice was leading me somewhere important. And it most definitely was.

My feet finally stopped, and my body jerked at the sudden halt. I had come upon a clearing, but this space wasn't empty. A large tree stump with massive roots curled into the ground was the center piece of the clearing, and seated on top majestically was a woman clothed in a long flowing white dress, her blonde hair falling in large curls down her back. She was smiling sweetly at me as she sang the melody. And suddenly, two large white wings that resembled those of a dove unfurled from behind her.

I was immovable, despite the shock I was experiencing. Behind her there was a sudden cloud of darkness that took the form of a tall male, his hands braced gently against her shoulders, he was pale and lanky with raven colored hair that was swept up and black eyes. He too smiled at me with two pointed fangs as his own black wings appeared.

My breathing was shaky as the two continued to look upon me.

Sudden bursts of light and shadows of darkness began to form, encompassing the clearing. Each was alternated as total bodies of pure light and darkness, all holding hands, cutting of any exits available.

I finally fell down to my knees, control returning to my body. I couldn't stop the continuos shaking of my form as the male helped the woman up, both of them approaching me slowly. The woman wasn't singing anymore, but the song continued.

"The others must be singing." I thought to myself.

The pair stopped in front of me and still smiled, their hands clasped together.

"Hello young one." The woman spoke softly.

"We are Life and Death." The man continued.

"The angel, and the demon." Life said.

"W-what am I doing here, what do you need with me?" I asked, my voice barely audible.

"You're here, because it is time to wake you, Lyra." Death said as he grabbed my hand, gently helping me up.
