I wake up to the bright sunlight shining down on my face and a wet slippery tongue licking my face. It was my dog Bull, short for Bullet. I roll over and sigh a happy sigh, I have a feeling that today was going to be a beautiful day. I sit up and pat Bull on his head giving him a kiss. I get out of my bed putting my dressing robe on and head downstairs with Bull following me like a shadow. I didn't care that I wasn't properly dressed.
"Good morning Mr. Ross!"
"Good morning Miss Mina, your breakfast is in the dining hall."
"Thank you"
I walk into the dining hall and discover my father and Julian both sitting in their chairs with a cup of coffee in one hand and the newspaper in the other, a mirror reflection of each other. They both took a sip from their coffee at the same time as I start to giggle at them.
"What's so funny?" Julian asks while not taking his eyes off of the paper.
"You two are the exact same person."
"How?" they both ask at the same time. They both put down their papers and look at each other causing me to laugh again at their actions.
"Like father like son," I say while sitting down in my chair and start to eat my breakfast. Bull lays down next to my chair and sneak him a piece of my toast.
The three of us eat in silence until our breakfast was interrupted by the arrival of the post. Mr. Ross enters the room with the mail and hands the few bills and a single letter to my father who excuses himself abruptly.
"What was that all about?" I look at Julian, who only shrugs and drinks the rest of his coffee.
"I don't know. Well, I'm off. I have an appointment with a few of my friends that I am about to be late for. See you later tonight sis," he kisses my head and walks out the door.
After finishing my breakfast I walk over to the telephone and call Angelica to make plans for the day. We decide to meet up at our favorite café. I walk upstairs to get ready for the day, almost running into my mother on the way up.
"Good morning mom," I kiss her cheek in greeting.
"Good morning dear! Have you seen your father? Mr. Ross told me he was looking for me."
"No, but I thought I saw him head towards the study."
"Thank you dear." She rushes off in the direction of the study.
That was strange I think to myself. I shrug my shoulders and walk the rest of the way up to my room to dress. I dress quickly and once out the front door I head off in the direction of the café.
The cafe was a quick ten-minute walk from the house giving me plenty of time to go over the conversation I had with Michael the previous night. It was just a little bet what harm could come from a little bet? But on the flip side, there was a potential out come I do not want to face. Could he be alluding to what I think he was alluding to?
As I arrive I notice Darcy getting out of a car that did not belong to her family. Looking closely at the car I notice that it belongs to Lou, the tall silent Irish lad who was always hidden in the shadows at many of our parties and event. The way that Darcy was dressed could only mean one thing, she obviously did not go home last night. Or if she did it was not for long for she was wearing one of the dresses Lou had bought her. I stand there and shake my head in disbelief, only the two of them could get away with stuff like this. Darcy spots me and walks over to me.
"Hey Mina, thanks for letting me stay over last night," She gives me a wink, smirking at my unamused expression.
"Sure no problem, anytime," I said sarcastically. I cannot believe I was going along with this, but it was not the first time. "You could have given me a little heads up so I was prepared! What if your parents called my house this morning asking?"
