Chapter 8

Another chapter... I'm really happy. I hope I will be the first to get to 25 chapters and complete the story!! SO, here is chapter 8.

The next few days passed in a blur. I only looked forward to Sir Flagstaff's classes. The history of the school is amazing, and I am learning to control and summon any form of fire. While Ryan can only control lightning, and Bridget can only control lava, I can control every form of fire. Natalia is enjoying her water class, but we don't speak of those classes. Not yet anyways. We have decided that next week we will go exploring in the other hallway on the fifth floor. Learn more about the school. I know it's a risk but it's one that should be taken. Especially since Sir Flagstaff is always speaking of this school's creepy history, it sounds like that hallway is well... historic. 

There's a new girl, Rhea. She has her last period of the day on the 5th floor too. So, the three of us walk up together. Actually, we have every class together. But she's very quiet and writes things we can't see, so I would say she's pretty wierd. I heard she has a brother and he's been mentioned a few times but I've never seen him. It's really wierd, how we're so close in other ways, but none of us knew each other's past a families. I could easily open up to these girls, but their slight distance kept me from it. We just don't bother getting too emotional I guess.

I walked to my room, sighing inwardly. Things at this school were so normal it was creepy. It made it too obvious that this school is hiding something big, and the three of us are determined to find it out. I walked into the dorm and was shocked by what I saw. Natalia was in tears next to her bed, just letting everything out. Her mac was beside her, and she was staring at the screen in horror.  I quickly rushed to her side and pulled her closer, allowing her to cry into my blouse. I whispered calming words in her ear until she quieted down and fell asleep on my lap. I called Rhea down and together we got her into bed and sat down at my desk.

"Do you know what was wrong?" Rhea asked.

"Nope. I didn't ask. She seemed too upset."

"We're going to need to ask."

"Why is it so important?" I know I sounded nosey, but if I was every going to ask questions, now was the time.

Rhea sighed.

"I'll tell you why, we are supposed to save the world. You control fire, Natalia controls water, I control darkness. Each of us are the most powerful in our element, when you put the three of us together we are basically unstoppable. If we don't know everything about each other, it is a weakness."

Rhea paused but I interrupted quickly,

"Pause! You control darkness? What is that?"

"I can see, hear, and communicate with spirits basicaly. That also means I can see every person who lost at trying to save the world like we are training for now. For example, I can see the very beautiful young lady who looks a lot like you. She is always hovering around us. Do you know her?"

"Yes, but I don't want to talk about that right now. Back to your story thing.."

"Okay well, what I mean is, it's about time we open up to each other if we are going to dig deeper into the school's past and their secrets. I've been having these wierd dreams about the future. Some good, some bad. We need to figure out what some things mean and then save the world, together."

Wow, someone's been thinking.

"Okay sounds good. Let's relax now."

So, we did. Rhea and I read, listened to music, and just hung out until Natalia finally awoke and we both immediatly got serious again. Time to face the music.

Natalia sat up in bed and rubbed her slightly puffy eyes, looking around the room. When she saw Rhea and I on the floor she gave a small smile and climbed down the ladder.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Just waiting for you to finaly we wake up! We totally just wasted a day waiting for you!" I joked and Rhea laughed.

"Okay, I'm just going to run to the bathroom. I'll be right back out and then we can do something!" She smiled and did a light skip into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

"How do you do that?" asked Rhea.

"Do what?"

"Cheer a sad girl up enough to get her to practicaly skip into a bathroom!"

"I'm just being myself... and being nice. I know we're going to have a tough night so I wanted it to start out good, I guess."

"Well it sure did!"

We laughed and Natalia walked out. Her hair was brushed nicely and her eyes were less puffy. She even looked more awake.

"What are you guys laughing at?" she asked, plopping down on the floor beside me.

"Nothing" Rhea said.

'So, ummmm... why were you crying earlier?" I asked.

Natalia sighed,

"My grandmother. I lived with her before I came here because my parents are dead and.... she just had a heart attack and passed away a few days ago. I just got told by the hospital she went to."

You could easily see the tears welling up behind her eyes and I pulled her into a hug,

"It's okay, Talia. We're here for you. How about we all do something together?"

She gave a light sniffle but smiled nonetheless,

"Okay, let's go now. I want to get my mind of her."

So we all stood up and decided on getting something to eat. There was nothing on school property so we got on a bus and went into town, going to Dunkin Donoughts. I know, so original,  but we could all use something sweet right now. We each got a donought and coffee before sitting down and just having fun. It was nice to forget about school and saving the world, if only for an hour.

When we got on the bus again we only had a hour before curfew so we rushed inside and into our dorms. Sadly, Rhea was in a different room so we said our goodbyes and went to get our beauty sleep. At exactly 10:00 we were yelled at to turn our lights off so we obediently did, we have school tomorrow anyways.

I tossed and turned all night, having dreams of Matt and fire. I couldn't shake the feeling that we were going to find something out this week that will change everything.

I woke up to my alarm, the usual. Of course, Natalia was already up and dancing around our room. How is she so happy in the morning?

"What are you doing?!" I half yelled.

"Waking up!!" Natalia yelled with a smile and continued dancing.

I dragged my but down the ladder and hopped into the shower, taking the chance to wake up. As I got out I found myself dancing and singing along to the music as I dressed and lightly curled my hair, adding a bit of makeup.

I walked into our bedroom still dancing and singing, using my hairbrush as a microphone. Talia and I did a mini concert with my guitar and hairbrush before falling into fits of laughter, finaly slipping on our shoes, grabbing our bags, and running down to breakfast and sitting at a random table.

Nothing could ruin our high mood, until that is, Julie brought some very bad news to our table...
