Hey guys! So, my mom is giving me 30 minutes to write this chapter, so I'm sorry if it's bad! Enjoy I guess (:

Chapter 28

I woke up and felt... different. I could feel the wings on my back and when I reached around my back to touch them I felt... Feathers? I jumped out of bed with a sudden burst of energy and looked in my mirror.

There they were.

Somehow, I now had two short wings that spread horizontaly from my shoulder blades and curled up at the bottom. They were gorgeous. Even though the ink was black, the wings turned out to be a hue of blue. In all shades and tints. I could have worried about actually having wings, but I didn't.

The vines were still on my back, and I felt like they were connecting the wings to me, holding me in place.

"Time for breakfast!" Natalia's voice rang through our dorm and I jumped.

What was I going to do with my wings?

I tried moving them, slowly, and they did. Okay, now they are officially a part of me.

In a split second, I threw on my favorite blue hoodie and ran out into the lounge where Rhea and Natalia were already seated on our small table.

"Morning!" I said, trying not to sound freaked out. But I was. Who wouldn't feel freaked out if they suddenly had wings?

"Morning, Ashton." Rhea said.

"You sleep good?" Natalia asked.

"Sure did! How about you guys?"

"Good." they both said in unison.

"My back is better!" Rhea said happily.

"Coolios. You still like it?" I asked.

"Love it! How about yours?"

"Mine is still sore, but right now I'm way more interested in what Natalia fixed us to eat!" I looked over at Natalia, who set down a plate of food in front of each of us.

"Eggs, baccon, some toast, and lots of orange juice!" she said and we dug in. Man, I was suddenly very hungry. I feel like I'm feeding two!

Once I was finaly full we each went into our rooms to get ready. This was our last day at Acrylic!

I threw on a pair of skinny jeans and a light pink babydoll top. Somehow, my wings were back to being a tattoo. I guess that's good, so I can now be more of myself without worrying about people seeing it. Although I'm sure Madame Laurence will notice it at some point, which is why I'll be avoiding her a bit today.

I put on my Gifted necklace and charm bracelet my parents got me and went out into the lounge.

Rhea and Natalia were already there waiting for me.

"Ready to go?" they asked.

"Yup!" I answered and we went to the gifted realm for our final day here at Acrylic.

I had wandered away from Rhea and Natalia about ten minutes ago, and I now found myself on a desserted beach. The waves were traveling peacefully, and the few trees and patches of grass waved in the slight breeze. I pulled my coat tighter around me and sat down in the white sand, taking in a deep breath of the sweet and salty air.

"Hello there." a deep voice said from behind me and I turned to look at a very good looking guy. He had dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes with light freckles.

"Hi." was my smart reply.

"What is a pretty girl like you doing on this beach all alone?"

"Relaxing, of course."

"Aah.. so is this like your spa day or something?"

"Haha, no. This is more like a last-chance-to-visit day."

"Are you with any friends?"

"Yeah, I'm supposed to meet them in an hour."

"Cool, well, do you care if I join you then?"

"Sure, go ahead."

He sat down on the sand next to me and turned to face me.

"My name's Lucas." he said.

"Well, I'm Ashton."

"That's a pretty name... I heard it's the name of the Sun Child?"

"It sure is."

"So does that make you the Sun Child?"

"Sure does, Lucas."

He laughed a deep, almost sensual laugh. I swear he is the most amazing guy I have ever met... even better than Jake.

"Where are you from?" I asked.

"Orange Country. But I was born in New York."

"I'm from Orange County too!"

"That's cool. Maybe we can meet up sometime later then. Right?"

"Course. I can so use some more friends. I live in a small town, and I've recently had a problem with one fo them.."

"Tell me about it. Small towns can be so annoying!"

"Finally someone agrees with me! I swear living with the same people all your life just gets so boring!"

"I know right. What do you want to do with your life?"

"Well... I kinda have to rule the Gifted realm... but I want to own my own clothing store if I can!"

"That's cool. I want to be a second grade teacher one day. But between Gifted classes and studying it's been hard to make that happen."

"Wait a second! What's your element and where do you go to school?"

"I am fire, just like you, and I go to school at Lanquire in Florida, but I take classes at a small school here."

"That's cool. I go to Acrylic... wait I used to go to that school!"

"Seriosuly? That's so weird! So I guess I'll see you around then, for sure?"

"Ya! That's so cool."

Lucas and I talked and goofed around for another twenty minutes, until I had to go.

"Alright, Lucas, time for me to go! I hope I'll see you again soon!" I got up, and he got up too.

"Okay, bye Ashton. It was so nice meeting you."

He pulled me into a small hug and I walked away, with a wave behind my back. Seeing and meeting Lucas really put me in a good!

I met up with Rhea and Natalia at the video game store, where Rhea had just bought some game. We goofed around and had some fun in the store until we got kicked out and we went back to our dorms.

Time really had flown by because now it was 9:00pm!

"Ugh, wow how time flew by!" Rhea said.

"Haha yeah... You ready to get ready for bed?' I asked.

Natalia yawned, "You bet! U'm tired so I'll see you guys in the morning." She walked down the hallway and after a quick goodnight Rhea and I went into our rooms, also.

As I changed into my pajamas I realized that my wings weren't tattoos again.

What was going on with them?
