Six Months Before.

"I would first like to thank you for taking an interest in joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon here at the University of Eastern New Hudsoon. I, along with the fraternity group would welcome you into our great community. We pride ourselves in holding our members to the highest standards. This organization has been a part of this University for almost three decades. Traditionally, we challenged every members to achieve even greater heights intellectually, personally, and socially..." The President of the University is saying his welcome speech, as he addresses this to the new members of the SAE. He's also a great member of this brotherhood.
I'd learned this because as a leader of the group I should get along with the alumna, get in touch with them. 
Hindi naman madaling maging leader sa ganitong kalaki na fraternity. Minsan nga natatanung ko sa sarili kung bakit sa lahat ng ibang members ay ako pa ang napili na kung tutuusin ay hindi naman ako karapat dapat dito.
Bumuntong hininga na lang ako at ibinigay ang buong atensyon sa nagsasalita.
Matapos magsalita ng University President ay tinawag na ako ng emcee to deliver my speech. "And now, let me call in our new elected leader of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Mr. Poly Jairus Neville! Around of applause please." Then everybody in the room applauded as I faced them and stand behind the podium.
Tumingin muna ako sa kanila and begin my own talk. "To our University President, to our former leader, to the alumna and to the new member of the organization a very pleasant evening to one and all. It's my preveledge to stand in front of you, giving you some piece of message that I know each of you can easily forget as the party start along." 
By that everybody laugh and some claps their hands. But then I continue my speech and ended with something that I hope will remained to their mind. "Phases of life sometimes make us confused, it make us strong or make us weak. But what is important in the end is what we do to make us successful. Thank you everyone. Enjoy the night. Let's start the ball rolling!" Nang ideklara ko na ang simula ng celebration ay agad namang may nagbukas ng champagne and everyone in the room find his place. May mga tugtug na rin na maririnig at mga nagsasayawan sa gitna ng hall.
I march back to my seat but as I approaches to it Obtuse Tyler Ostra my own enemy is in his shoes blocking my way. He's wearing his smile, an arrogant smile. "Enjoying the position na hindi naman talaga sa iyo?" At tumingin sa ibaba ng stage. He's in his usual attire, a shirt and a signature jeans with his sport shoes.
Ngumiti naman ako sa kanya upang pagbigyan ang sarcasm nya. "Not my place? Pero bakit sa akin napunta? And beside, I really enjoy it." At tumingin sa kanya ng seryoso. "Obtuse. Kailan ka ba titigil? Bakit di mo na lang tanggapin na I'm better than you." Giit ko sa kanya.
"Oh really? Let's see. Just enjoy this while it last Poly. Baka paggising mo isang umaga hindi na ikaw ang lord ng fraternity na ito." Sabay tingin sa akin ng masama at seryosong tingin. Leveling my own stare.
Hindi ko na lang sya pinansin at tumingin sa kabilang side ng hall. Napansin ko ring nakatingin na ang tatlong magkakapatid at si Zeke sa kinaruruunan namin.
"Hindi lahat ng gusto mo Obtuse makukuha mo. Bago mo mababawi ang posisyon ko.." Sabay balik ng tingin sa kanya. "..patayin mo muna ako." At lumakad na ako papunta sa kinaruruunan ng mga kaibigan ko.
Hindi ko na rin sya hinintay na makasagot.
"Poly, ano na naman bang sinabi sa iyo ng Obtuse na iyon?" Tanong ni Zeke sa akin habang papalapit ako sa kinaruruunan nila.
Umupo na lang muna ako saka tumingin sa mga kaibigan ko.
"Threats na naman ba? Sana ako na lang pala ang naging leader para may thrill yong buhay ko. Nakakabord na kasi." Si Zero ang nagsalita. Ang panganay sa Pascal's triplet brothers.
"Ni hindi mo nga maligawan ang crush mo sa kabilang section, leader pa kaya ng SAE? Oh cmon Zero. Hindi bagay sayo." Si One nanaman na laging binabara ang kapatid nilang si Zero.
"Bakit ba ayaw ka nyang tantanan? Kung siguro nakita ni Tangent na sya ang karapat-dapat sa grupo then sya dapat ang napili hindi ikaw. Kasalanan mo bang ipinanganak na maging SAE President?" Si Two naman ang nagsalita.Tangent Zach Gray was the former leader of the SAE bago ako.
Napatingin naman ako sa tatlong magkakapatid. Minsan nga natatanong ko kung triplet ba talaga silang tatlo. Hindi kasi sila magkamukha. Siguro may mga similarities sila but not to the point na parang pinagbiyak sila na bunga.
"Drop that subject. Nandito tayo to celebrate at hindi para problemahin ang tulad ni Obtuse." I said to them habang itinataas ang beer na nasa baso ko.
