Two: New Friends

~The Next Day

"Hey mom I'm going to the canyon alright?" Cy had gotten ready and already slipped her knee and elbow gear on. "Ok just be careful as always!" Tenaru replied. She was usually busy with her work, so she doesn't notice Cy's absence. "Do you, uh, wanna come watch me?" Cy asked before walking out the door. "Sorry kiddo I really gotta finish up this report for the boss. He might give me a promotion if I turn it in early!" Tenaru replied. Cy thought about Tenaru and her work; "Why do you work at home?" Cy didn't mean for the question to come out, it just...did. She heard a bit of rustling before her mom's head popped around the corner with sad, remembering eyes. "Well, someone had to take care of you after..after what happened to Syriin...your dad." Almost in tears, she returned to his office, and Cy silently slipped out of the door and to the canyon.

She had finally arrived to her favorite fall point, a.k.a. the highest point in the canyon. Backing up, she took a deep breath. 'This time...this time for sure.' Cy ran, leaped, and- "I got you!!" Opening her eyes, she realized she was not flying, but was in the arms of what seemed to be a 17 year old boy. "Wha- lemme go!" Cy wriggled out of his arms and stood up. "Chill geez! Just tryin to help-" the boy stared behind her. "What? Never seen an angel before?" Cy tried not to use a braggy tone, but it didnt seem to work. "Actually no; you're the last angel child?" the boy tried to look Cy straight at the face but failed miserably as he stared at her wings. "As far as I know. Thanks for trying to save me, but I didn't need help. I was practicing." Cy waved her hand at his blank stare. "Oh-uh, sorry. Hey, are angel wings supposed to be that tiny?" The boy asked with an innocent look in his eyes, that quickly turned to embarrassed regret. "Whaddia mean tiny?! There's a reason I'm practicing!!" Cy raged at him. "Wait a second; you're a vamp, and you aren't trying to hurt me..." Cy took a step back and prepared to flee. "If you mean vampire then no I wouldn't hurt anyone. I was actually just playing some volleyball with my friends," He pointed back where he had come from. "You wanna come? We need another player, we have uneven teams." Cy looked nervously to where he was pointing, but she never thought of the idea of have vamp friends. "I...I guess I could try...if we are going to be..friends, well, then my name's Cy." Cy told him hesitantly. "Nice name. I'm Eirynn." He told her. They started to walk over to the volleyball game.

"Hey guys! I got a new friend!" Eirynn shouted, although Cy didn't see anyone at first. But then she recognized it; the lie of a vamps' lightning fast movement, and the volleyball flying over the net. "Guys? Hey!!" Eirynn used his sonic voice to stop the two other teen vamps in their game. "Didn't hafta be so loud!" a female vamp exclaimed. The other vamp held the ball in his arm as he said "Who's the new girl? Wait-" The unknown male vamp dropped the ball as he and the female vamp simultaneously gasped with surprised. "The angel! The angel child!!" "Nice welcome, guys. Cy, this is Nashya(girl) and Fernet(boy). They can be really walnut brained sometimes," Eirynn sighed. "Well, Cy here wants to play volleyball with us. You wanna be on Nashya's team? Girls versus boys?" Cy, who would never back down from a vamp's challenge, nodded her head and ran over to Nashya's side. "You fast Cy?" Nashya asked Cy. "My wings can give me a boost; does that count?" Cy replied. "Let's see what you can do!" Nashya started the game with a powerful punch. As soon as it started, Cy couldn't tell where it was headed until she met the volleyball-with her face. "Ooooww..." Cy was laying on the ground with a big bruise right on her forehead. Nashya, Fernet, and Eirynn were bended over Cy. "Hey, you all right? Fernet, where'd Groudu...." Cy had blacked out. What felt like seconds to Cy-that was actually 2 hours-she had woken up with a massive headache and a strange creature bending over her. "What the-!" Cy tried getting up but the creature threateningly growled at her. "Hey Cy! Finally you're awake!" Eirynn was sitting next to her bed. "You blacked out after that game. Sorry bout that." Cy smiled to show she was alright. "Nothing important, but who or what is that...thing?" Cy pointed at the strange animal. It had a body of a tiger, a leg of a jaguar, snow leopard, panther, and domestic cat, with the head of a lion and a tail of a bobcat, and was also the size of a domestic cat. "Oh yea...that's Groudu. He may look strange, but he can sometimes be a softy...sometimes." Groudu had walked over and laid down on Eirynn's lap. "How long was I out?" Cy asked, just then remembering her mom. "Probably around 2 hours. Why?" Eirynn was left in the dust after Cy had boost-ran back to her home, hopefully in time that her mom wouldn't notice. "See you tomorrow guys! Thanks!!" Cy yelled back, but she didn't think they could hear her by then.
