Chapter Five

"So here's where you'll be bunking" Maggie says gesturing to a mattress in a large room full of beds, "I'm right here," she continues gesturing to the mattress right next to mine. I can't help but smile I can't remember the last time I slept on a mattress let alone a clean one from a hospital.

"I guess we're gonna be roomies," I smile, "You guys were pretty lucky to find this place how long have you been here?" I ask setting down my bag on my mattress as I sit down and Maggie follows.

"About a week or so now, we don't usually stay in a place for very long you know"

"Yeah trust me I know Adam and I have been tracking you guys for months you are ridiculously fast" I smile at her and she looks curiously at me

"So is he your boyfriend then? Adam I mean?" she asks in a seemingly casual way, but I know better. Girls always flock to Adam wherever we go and trust me he takes advantage of that. His ego gets so big I've seriously considered leaving him behind on more then one occasion.

I smirk back at Maggie, "No, Adams my older brother and just a heads up, you know woman to woman," I say, "Adams usually very popular wherever we go and he takes advantage of that, if you know what I mean" I wiggle my eyebrows at her before I realize how weird and creepy that must look and she bursts out laughing.

"That was great do the eyebrow thing again" she says between breaths

"Yeah sorry about midway through doing it the first time I made a promise never to do it again" I smile back at her and she opens her mouth to reply when Ben pops his head through the door.

"Oh good" Ben says looking at us and moving his hand over his hair in an awkward gesture, "So you've found you bunk"

"Yeah," I reply looking at him curiously trying to figure out why he's here, "Maggie was nice enough to show me" I smile at her

"Good...well that's good, I'm glad" he replies and I can't help but smile at how awkward and cute he's being

"Yeah I'm glad to" I reply teasing him and he cracks a little smile

Maggie pipes up, "What's up Ben? Did you need something?"

Ben looks away from me at Maggie, "Oh yeah I just wanted to make sure Ava knew where her bunk was and I was gonna show her where Adam is sleeping"

"Great" I say standing up, "I should probably go see him anyway, you know, let him know where I am if he has any bad dreams"

Maggie starts laughing behind me and gets up from my mattress, "Show us the way Benny-boy" she says to Ben pulling me along behind her towards him. Ben smiles at us but looks confused.

"Adams her brother you dweeb, good news for you hey?" Maggie explains nudging Ben in a playful way

"Oh, I just assumed..." he starts

"Yeah that seems to be going around," I reply, "So where are we off too Benji?"

"Adams actually sleeping in the same quarters as Hal and I ... wait Benji? Seriously?" he says raising an eyebrow at me

"It's cute don't you think?" I say half smiling at the less then pleased look on his face

"Yeah maybe for a dog, or a really badass hamster" he says and Maggie and I laugh

"Well then it'll be perfect for you won't it" Maggie says while messing up Bens already messy hair.

"It could be worse Benji, I might have gone with Ben10" I say

"See, that I wouldn't have minded Ben10 kicked ass" he says smirking at me

"Well to late you're stuck with Benji now" I reply

"We'll see" Ben replies as he knocks on a door labeled 4.105, "This is my," he pauses, "I mean our room."

The door flies open to reveal Adam who seems to have made himself quite comfortable considering he's taken his shirt off.

"Hey Maggie," he says staring at her and completely disregarding Ben and I, "Coming to see me so soon? I must say I like your enthusiasm but you seem to have caught me at a bit of a bad time" he says smirking at her and looking down to his bare chest. Oh god he's so embarrassing.

"I think I just threw up a little" I say pushing Adam out of the way and walking into the room, winking at Maggie behind his back, she however seems to be a little preoccupied looking at his chest.

"So definitely not your boyfriend then." Ben whispers to me, smiling at the look on Maggie's face.

"You know what at the moment I'm thinking he might even have been adopted it seems impossible to me that I'm relating to that" I say gesturing to my brother who is currently leaning against the doorframe subtly trying to flex for Maggie.

"Woah there Ava," he replies teasing me, "if I were you I would be advertising the fact that your my sister it might make you some friends"

"Or enemies" we all turn around to see Hal standing at the door, "If you guys are all settled Doctor Glass is ready to see you now, Ben you might wanna come along"
