Melissa's POV:

I had no idea what Joshua was doing, but I was hoping he'd have broken us out by now. It had been thirty minutes since he left. Slowly but surely, we were feeling the temperature rise. Sweat was running down our faces, and I was glad that we were already in nothing more than bikinis (and a pair of shorts in Ryan's case).

"How long do you think he'll take?" Ryan asked me, looking up.

"I don't know, but he's working on getting us out of here." I replied "But you'd think he'd have managed it by now-its been half an hour."

"Why can't he just go to the hotel and tell them what's happened?" Samantha asked, the heat was clearly going to her head.

"Sam, do you really think that Joshua's here legally?" Ryan asked "They'd know he has a criminal record for stalking Melissa, and he wouldn't be accepted. There's also the fact that the person who shut us in here wouldn't be stopped if Joshua simply got us out of here."

"If Joshua is trying to track down our would-be killer, he needs to focus on getting us out of here first!" Sam told us moodily

"If I know Joshua, he'll be looking for the key to this shack so he can unlock the door." I told her "Where is the key going to be, Samantha?"

She took a full minute to figure it out, the heat and thought of death was clearly imparing her ability to think straight: "On the killer, and since this is a big site..."

"Correct" I informed her "It might take hours for Josh to get us out of here. At least we still have the hope that he's out there."

At this, Samantha slid down the wall and sat on the bench harder than she normally would have done. She was terrified, but she didn't want to show it. Ryan crossed over and put an arm around her while I watched, hating myself for not being more reassuring. I knew that it would take a long time for Josh to get us out, I just prayed that he would before the heat became unbearable.
