Traveling back to where Paarthurnax dropped me off, I kept risking glances behind me to make sure I wasn't being followed. I knew someone was near, so I figured that I would use Paarthurnax's flight to my advantage. I heard the familiar flap of wings, and knew that I could soon scope out the intruder. It was not to me prediction, however, to find that the dragon headed towards me was not Paarthurnax. "Shit" was all I said. I quickly loaded my bow, shooting arrow after arrow at him, only realising that it was a blood dragon. Those are the hardest to kill, and it's just my luck that I'm out here alone.. I am glad that everyone's with Paarthurnax, I'd rather them not encounter this dragon yet.The dragon landed roughly, sending me flying back. Quickly scrambling to get to my feet, I had only a moment before he shot a breath of fire my direction. I knew that if the dragon was allowed to fly, I'd be screwed. Gritting my teeth, I tried to remember what I could do to make him not fly. I knew of the shout Dragonrend, but I hadn't learned it yet. I decided to try my luck, but to no avail. The only other way I knew of how to get a dragon to not fly is to hop on its neck and slay it. Looking around, I knew the perfect way to get on his neck. I waited for him to turn my way, and then i sprang into action. Using a tree as leverage, I pounced off of it onto a huge boulder, and landed gracefully on his neck. He began to thrash around, wailing a little bit, as he knew what was coming. Pulling my Battleaxe out of its sheath from back, I positioned myself as best as I could on the back of the dragon, before plunging it into his neck. The life slowly left his eyes, and I waited for the soul to come rushing into me. Clambering down from the dragon, I collected Dragon bones, hoping to be able to store them, and make them into armor later. Sitting on the smooth skull of the dragon, I awaited Paarthurnax's return. I decided to have a light snack, as I could tell High Hrothgar was pretty far away. Just as I was pulling out a half loaf of bread and some cheese, I heard some branches snap. I quickly got down, hiding in the dragon's skeleton, pulling out my bow and loading one arrow. Looking around, I equipped nightvision so I'd be able to see into the dimly lit forest. I noticed a figure, of canine like features, making its way towards me. Werewolves. I knew where there was one, there are bound to be others. I hoped that when Paarthurnax arrived, the werewolves would be far away, or at least not close enough to harm me or Paarthurnax. Watching him closely, he moved closer and closer to the skeleton, but a sudden howl rang out from somewhere in the forest. Stiffening, the werewolf began running in direction where the howl emanated from, and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. A couple more minutes passed by without incident, and Paarthurnax finally arrived. Hopping onto his neck, we were soon on our way to High Hrothgar.
"Paarthurnax."
"Yes, young one?"
"Did the greybeards welcome my friends? Are they in good hands?"
Paarthurnax was silent, making worry flutter in my gut.
"Paarthurnax." My tone was dangerous, knowing that if he lead my friends to somewhere dangerous, it wouldn't be long before he exhaled his last breath.
"Dovahkiin. The greybeards are... well.." It was not often the Dragon was at a loss for words, much less sad. My worry went from a small storm into a hurricane, worrying furiously about my friends.
"The greybeards were murdered shortly before you arrived. Arngeir survived, but that may be short lived. He currently resides at the very top of the mountain, where I live. I hope to the gods and goddesses that he will be alright, or there will be no one to educate you in things I cannot." When Paarthurnax said all he needed to, I felt like fainting. The greybeards were... dead? I need to figure out who did this. Grinding my teeth, I said,"Paarthurnax, I know it is dangerous for my friends to go with me places, but will you help me figure out who murdered our friends?"
He heaved a sigh, a heavy one.
"While you are away, avenging our friends, I will educate your friends in swordsmanship, how to fight, and all the things they will need to know. Unbeknownst to them, but I'm sure you have suspected, they have the ability to gain the power of the voice. I'll also be teaching them every shout I can, with Arngeir's help." I nodded to myself, pleased that they may be combat ready when I return. We had finally reached High Hrothgar, and I turned on my night vision. Since it was dark outside, it would've been hard to spot potential enemies climbing the slopes of the mountain. Luckily, it seemed no one had intentions of attacking tonight. I didn't feel as if my friends were safe though, so I decided I would keep watch, checking on them and Arngeir every once in awhile. Landing, I hopped off of Paarthurnax and bid him goodnight. Walking inside, I was tackled in a hug by none other than Lindsey and Travis.
"Suzannah! Where have you been? What have you been doing?" Lindsey asked frantically.
I smiled, and said," It's nothing important. I'll show you to where you'll be staying, and then tomorrow you guys will be learning some new stuff." Walking, I showed them their rooms. They all were at one secluded end of the "castle", where it'd be easy to keep watch. It was beginning to turn into dawn when a scream echoed from one of the rooms I was guarding. Grabbing my battleaxe, I charged and burst through the door the scream came from.
