*Lindsey's POV*
Now that Suzannah had returned, getting them to set the trap for Odahviing was much easier than that of getting them to agree to it. Jarl Balgruuf was very confused when she showed herself, but it was not dwelled upon, since Suzannah was very insistent that we set the trap as soon as possible. Soon, after chatting with some nervous guards, Suzannah stepped up to the ledge, and shouted the loudest shout I had ever heard.
"OD-AH-VIING!!!"
The force of the shout was not enough to knock us to our feet, but we all stumbled backwards, trying not to get hit directly in the face by the force of energy that erupted from the shout.
"Goddamn, I love this shout." I heard Suzannah say, chuckling to herself out of glee. Her expression soon turned serious however, when a black shadow had been seen on the horizon.
"It's him!!" She shouted, and I had to make sure not to seize my blade out of panic. Calmly, me and then rest of our group grabbed our weapons, and carefully withdrew them. The scene looked almost like an epic battle, with one side ready to face whatever came their way, and the other prepared to give up everything to win. Suzannah flew away from the ledge, her feet moving so fast that I barely registered her standing next to me.
"Ready, Armrest?" she asked, and I felt anger rise up my face from the comment.
"Whenever you are, lamppost!" I said, rather loudly. She chuckled, and when the Dragon finally landed, a great shudder was felt throughout Dragonsreach. One of the guards standing near us raced forward to attack, but was quickly thrown back against a wall by Odahviing's large wings. His comrades quickly races forward to avenge the fallen warrior, but slinked away at Suzannah's command.
"We need him alive, and uninjured if you don't mind!" I called, making them retreat even further. Suzannah suddenly rushed forward, brandishing her weapon on Odahviing's great snout, making him blink confusedly for a moment before rushing forward and trying to get a bite. She leapt backwards, and told us all to go backwards as well, so we could confine him in the chains built for this sort of thing. He dutilly followed, not realising it was a trap even though she said he could understand clearly. The great harness then fell from the ceiling when he was in position, and the guards quickly locked the chains in place. Odahviing, however, was not as docile as Suzannah had claimed him to be. I had stepped forward, not realising how close I was, and he shot a ball of flame towards me. I braced myself for the heat, but it never came. I then realised I had been moved quite a distance, and someone was holding onto me. It was Timius, the one who had tried to kill me earlier! Disgusted, I quickly pulled out of his grasp, but thanked him silently. I hadn't minded him before, but then he tried to kill me, and trying to forget that was a very hard task indeed. We both headed towards the others, where Suzannah and the others were debating who should talk to him.
*Suzannah POV*
Brooke very desperately wanted to talk to odahviing, but I would have none of it. She was very levelheaded, yes, but her sass may prove him uncooperative if she says one wrong thing. Travis however, was also very sassy. That left Lindsey or Timius, but the others instantly disagreed on Timius talking to him. That left Lindsey, and I was very uneasy about that. He had already tried to shoot a fireball at her once, but Timius had managed to get her out of harm's way, but what if he tried again? Speaking of the two, they approached, Lindsey seemingly confused on the conversation, but then realising what we were arguing about as she got closer.
"How about this," Brooke suggested." We could have Lindsey talk to Odahviing, but you can be right next to her, sort of as a bodyguard. That way, you can correct her on whatever needs to be said, but still protect her." The solution was probably the best we were going to get, so I shrugged and complied. However, Lindsey did have a very bad burn, and we needed to tend to that before anything else occurred. I asked the guards to keep a close eye on Odahviing while we went inside to take care of the burns, Lindsey very obviously thinking about what to say to Odahviing. Once we were done, we came back outside and walked right up to Odahviing.
"We need you to take us to the Portal of Sovngarde. Will you?"
Odahviing chuckled, something I expected.
"You and your friends are... Tenacious, I think the word is? What will you give me in exchange for this transportation?" He said in dragon language, and I translated.
"Your life, and immunity from Alduin's wrath. We know of your plight, how you cannot escape him even if you wanted to. We plan to travel to Sovngarde, and eradicate him from this timeline. Will you help us?"
Odahviing pondered her words, and I anxiously waited for his reply."Yes, I will help you. However, the portal is only open at night, so we will need to wait several hours. Can you manage that? I will patiently await around here, if you let me go."
Lindsey nodded, and went to join the others, but I told her to wait on giving the command to release him.
"I need to know I can trust you. What can you offer me as reassurance?"
"Well, Dovahkiin, I'm afraid I cannot tell you anything, but I can show you. Once you release me, I will not attack any of the guards, nor your friends, and I will leave the surrounding villages in peace. You may use the shout you used before to get me to return, since I am indebted to you." I nodded, and finally gave the command to release him. He quickly fled Dragonsreach, while Travis, Brooke and Lindsey prepared for the night ahead. I told them to go out and find whatever potions they could, since this place was a nightmare to go through alone. Timius and I went to the forge to ready and better the weapons and armor that we all had, and agreed to meet up back at the palace. Night was soon approaching, but we still had plenty of time. In that time, the Jarl threw a great feast, where we ate plenty, and all too soon it was over. We geared up and stood back out on the terrace we had used to call Odahviing. I had just taken a large mouthful of air when a large, resounding boom echoed throughout the building, and we all fell to our knees.
