"You’re going to be killing a wretched old lady who runs an orphanage in Solitude, an argonian who has been thieving and killing goats in Morthal, and a heartless bride who apparently didn’t choose the correct groom in Riften.” Nazir informed me as I gathered the contracts from him.

“Just great…. I didn’t want to go to Solitude, but I have to…” I muttered to myself. I gave him a nod, then left the sanctuary, Brooke in tow.

“Where do you want to start?” I asked her.

“Well, even though you apparently are not very excited about going to Solitude, I think it’d be best if we get the toughest out of the way.” She said. We made our way to the inn in Falkreath called Dead Man’s Drink. I rented a large room for the night, since the journey to Solitude would take a long time, and we needed all the rest we could get. I didn’t feel too tired, so I told Brooke I’d be back, I was going to go hunting.

“And here.” I handed her a stack of books, with such titles as Annals of the Dragonguard, Atlas of Dragons, The Dragon war, Alduin is Real, and The Alduin Akatosh dictionary.

“ If you find you can’t sleep, comb these to see if there’s anything useful. If not, then take some coin and go buy some food.” With that, I handed her 30 gold coins, grabbed my bow, and headed out of our room and out of the inn. Night was already beginning to fall, and I realised that the cover of darkness may be a better fit for hunting. Once I had reached a good distance away from the town, I whisper shouted,” LAAS YAH NIR.” My vision became red, but cleared and soon I was able to see the auras of any creature for miles. A giant was not too far to my right, and I carefully avoided him. I stalked a small group of elk, with one male and two females, until they came to a secluded spring. For some reason, though, the entire spring was red as if it too was alive. I stopped on the edge, right before the red started, where I knew something was wrong. The Elk had sensed it too, but just when they started running something strange happened. Tentacles shot from the ground and held the Elk into place. Then, ever so carefully, the water of the spring went from water to a greenish liquid. I could immediately tell it was acid when red started to seep from the Elk, and they screeched.

"What the fuck is that..." I muttered to myself.

“One bigass predator plant thingy, if you ask me.” A voice said from behind me. I turned around swiftly, grabbing the handle of my battleaxe, but relaxed quickly.

“Hey Timius. What are you doing here? I thought you’d be helping the others train…” Timius shrugged, then walked to where I was standing.

“Arngeir is more than capable of training them in what they need to know, especially in self defense. He has survived multiple assassins coming after him, you know. And besides, I’m here because I want to be. I want to help with the contracts.”
“Timius, one of them is an argonian.” He shrugged once more, and said,” When I played this game before, I had no problem with having to deal with others of my own kind. Yes, I didn’t like it, but it was my job, at one point or another. Now I’m just resuming my job. And I can tell how much you don’t want to go to Solitude, so here. I’ll deal with the contract in Solitude, and whatever pay you get from Nazir, you can just give to me later. Then you and Brooke can deal with the contracts in Morthal and Riften.” I gave him an incredulous look, before grabbing the Solitude contract and handing it to him. He gave me a quick salute, then ran off into the night.  I chuckled at how eagerly he ran, knowing that Brooke probably wasn’t going to be happy about our change in plans, but it couldn’t be helped. Morthal was still on the way to Solitude, so we were still going in the general direction. We could probably go to Solitude to hire a carriage to take us to Riften. I risked one last fleeting glance at the Elk, but the plant had apparently consumed them already. Shrugging, I walked back to Falkreath and to our inn.
