~*~ Chinatsu's P.O.V ~*~
We were sitting in stein's classroom listening to yet another lesson about Soul Frequency and Soul Contractions; stuff we already knew. Further into the lesson, I zoned out. My mind drifted off to Ataru, he is just in a terrible state. He's paler that a sheet of paper, and he doesn't eat at all. I was beyond worried about him, he won't talk to me about it. It really hurts me to see him this way. "Uh, miss Hurusaki?" Stein says breaking me out of my thoughts. I turn my attention to him only to notice that the whole entire room had their eyes on me. "Y-yes Sir." I stutter nervously. "Are you paying attention?" he ask taking a drag from his cigarette. I hesitated before answering "Yes..." I replied. "Can you finish this phrase then?" he questioned pointing to the chalk board.
Dammit please don't be hard! I looked the bored and focus on the phrase. Surprizingly I knew this without knowing how. "A sound soul, rests within a sound mind, and a sound body." I answer clearly. "Correct." he says. " Oh, and another thing Lord Death would like to see you in the death room now." He says turning back to the bored wrighting more questions and equations. 'I hope we're not in trouble.' I think nervously. I look over to Ataru who had his head down snoring softly. I gentlyvnudge him, causing him to lift his head and stare at me. "We have to go see Lord Death, like now." I explain.
We were walking down the hallway in silence. I sometimes would glance at him from time to him, but that was all. Suddenly he broke out into a coughing fit and fell to his knee clutching his shirt. I rush over to him and try to help him up, but he swatted my hands away. I looked taken back by this, "You don't need to be involved in this!" he said. 'Involved in what...' When the coughing finally stopped, he was leaned against the wall for support to to stand. " You damn Idot.." I mumbled tears pooling in my eyes. He stared at me and looked down at his lap. "You know we're in this together...you said so yourself, why won't you talk to me? What are you hiding?" I looked pleadingly at him. He didn't return a glance he didn't say anything. "Fine be that way." Was all I said before continuing down the hall.
---------------Time Skip-----------------
We stood in front of a huge red door at the end of a hallway. I guess this was it since nothing else was on this hall. I opened the door revealing a desert looking backdrop with upside down crosses in the grown, and clouds that we slowly drifting through the sky. At the end of the room was a concrete stand and on it was a mirror. This school was definitely not ordinary. "Hiya, Wassup, Watcha doin'!" greeted the Shinigami-sama. "We're fine..." I heard Ataru answer and I nodded in agreement. "So I called you two youngsters down here because you have not done a mission yet." he said. "To take missions, there's a board down the hall that has missions of every level, but your only aloud to complete missions of your ranking and since you two are one star you only comply to the easy stuff." he finished. "Then why is the reason you called us down here Lord death." I questioned. "Because~ I know you miss Hurusaki are a lot stronger that a one or two star mister so I've decided to give you a special mission." He said. I perked up at the sound of that but then my smile dissolve at the thought of Ataru. Lord Death must've saw how I defaulted and asked what was wrong. "It's just that-" I was cut off but Ataru. "We'll take it, when do we start." I looked at him but his eyes stayed focused on the Shinigami. There was silence before he answered. "Today, after lunch. Though...I must warn you all ranks are dangerous but the level mission you are about to take is the most dangerous." He warned. Ataru nodded. "That is all your are dismissed." He said and we walked out.
As we walked quietly back to Stein's classroom Ataru broke the silence." I'm doing this to protect you, like I promised you...and your father." He said not even glancing at me. I looked at the ground and closed my eyes. "I promised on his grave that I would protect you with my life, and I will carry that promise out till the end." He finished. "You also promised that you would never lie to me..." I commented. I looked up at him now staring at me with sunken, dull grey eyes. "So what are keeping from me?" I ask quietly. There was silence before he answered: "I'm protecting you and that's all you need to know." before walking of and leaving me to my thoughts. "You Idiot..." I stated, following shortly behind.

Ataru got sick and all before he could return to set, China had to go back to las Vegas cause she won the lottery just a lot of b.s. going on. But it's here now my children.
