Niall’s POV

All I remember was crashing to the ground, no control over what would, or could happen next. The power had just completely shut off. I remember a voice in the distance, it was calling my name.

My Name, maybe I was in heaven. Hah, if that were true, I would be awake right now, sitting in the clouds with the rest of the dead. But I’m not awake. I crashed along with the plane, and all the other lives that were there as well.

--------------

I felt a splintering pain in my head and right arm, the luggage above my head must have cushioned the landing somehow. The constant slapping of the waves brought me into consciousness and I sat up, trying to ignore the now pounding pain approaching my temples.

All I saw was water, water everywhere. Apart from the wreckage of the plane beside me. I wondered how many bodies were in there. I wondered if there were more people alive.

If I survived, surely other people must have. While dragging myself over to the cockpit door which had been burst open by the force of the fall I noticed my arm bleeding heavier that before. There was no doubt I would need medical attention.

But there probably isn't any here. Unless someone on the plane had medical experience, I doubt there was anything that could be done now. Realizing the situation, I tore off part of my hoodie, using the penknife in my pocket which had somehow managed to stay intact.

Wrapping it round my arm the best I could, I jumped into the water and did my best to swim into the cockpit of the plane.

Seeing the sight of the two pilots hunched over the controls made my stomach churn, were they alive? I struggled to get over to them, and ended up using the aid of the bars above my head.

When I reached them, I heard a small grunt from the pilot on the left.

“Hey, um pilot?” I questioned him, unsure of his real name.

He took a while to answer as he, like me, had struggled to regain consciousness.

“mmph, I’m Aaron.” He mumbled to me.

I noticed the blood on his leg and his forehead. At least he was alive, and I had someone with navigating skills. I wasn’t the only one who needed a doctor.

“Aaron, uhm , do you know anyone on this plane who might be a doctor?”

His face became alert, and before I knew it, he had shot to his feet. This didnt last long as as soon as he stood up, his face screwed up in pain and I lowered him back to the seat.

“Aaron, what is it..” I asked him, nervous of the answer.

This was the first time I got a look of him, he looked young, probably in his late twenties. He had light brown hair that was in a small quiff. His blue eyes stared at me, frantic. I really wanted to know who else was on this plane.

“Amy...., Amy was on this plane..” He paused before continuing.

“She...she was going for a medical course in Canberra. She didn't know I would be flying her over there.” He smiled, probably recalling the memory.

My head shot up at the word medical, she could help us. If she was alive that is. I stared back at Aaron.

“Was she your girlfriend?” I asked.

He smiled, “Yes, yes she was”, he frowned at the word was.

“What do you mean by was, she’s not dead is she....” He now looked on the verge of tears. This man could change emotions in a heartbeat.
