Summary: A loving demon friend is more reliable than most humans.
"and if you even feel scared,
alone, or just want to talk..
you know how
to call me"Ryuu has been dead for millennia. Eternities. He's seen, everything there is in this disgusting Earth. So when he saw the little girl crying, he shouldn't have felt remorse for her. Or even stopped to look.
If anything, he would have taken her soul, if it wasn't so pure. Besides, her shrilly cry interrupted his meal. But the girl's constant shrieks held him, captivated.
Why is she crying..
Ryuu detaches himself from his current soul, and approaches the girl, morphing into his demon form. A skull of a goat, with antlers of a fully grown buck. His middle half sprouting wings without feathers. And his legs, also those of a goat.
Stepping closer to the girl, he scans her surroundings. She was sitting outside of a house. Crying alone on the porch. The little girl was wearing a pastel pink dress. Poor thing looked about 6 years old.
Ryuu doesn't dare creep any closer because her cries have become even more loud, and now she was shaking violently. She thrashes her legs, having a tantrum but she is still bawling. Ryuu stood, stricken. This girl, weeping as hard as she was, did not taint her soul.
Souls were a gentle thing, most humans did not realize that they existed. A soul was often cleansed or contaminated, depending on the owner. Ryuu had always observed how one's soul was able to darken when a person cried. Especially like this girl.
But her soul was pure. Ryuu could see it straight though her body, in the center of her chest, trembling, as if it also weeped with the girl.
It was the most fascinating event Ryuu had encountered in centuries.
I wonder what had made her cry so...
Ryuu had decided that this little girl, was the most intriguing human. He would follow her.

Ryun had kept an eye on the human girl, and noticed instantly that no matter what happened to her, the girl's soul remained in purity.
It mattered not whether she was angry at people. It mattered not if she was sad whenever she was bullied. It didn't even matter when she was alone and heard her parents yell across the room.
No many how many bruises this little girl had on her heart. The soul, always, was pristine.
All around her, the adults, the other boys and girls.. Ryuu saw their polluted souls. But her, her's was never manipulated.
Most humans believed the heart was most important. Protecting the heart, shielding it from harm. But as always, humans were wrong. Wrong about many things. Like telling their young that magic doesn't exist. Or how there is not a worse fate than spending eternity in Hell. Lies. Lies, lies, lies.
The demon glances to the girl who was playing with dolls in her room, seeming to not be paying any attention to the growing voices of her parents. Ryuu had already figured out that they did not have the best of marriages, and we're hanging on the last bit of thread they had to keep it together. Their darling Mei.
