Chapter Twenty
Now it was my turn. Mr. Schmidt had finished briefing Bridget and I and as we stood and watched him brief the other two through the glass I noticed Audrey hand John the slip of paper containing the address we needed to obtain. I smile at Bridget.
"This is going to be a piece of cake B." I told her and then I left the room so I would be sure to meet John as he walked out. He was right handed so I went for his right pocket when I bumped into him on purpose. I slipped my hand in quickly and withdrew it out with my prize. John glared at me and I winked back at him stepping aside so he could get by. I quickly checked the paper to make sure it wasn't a trick. I smiled when I saw Mr. Schmidt’s handwriting. Then I strode into the room and sat down across from Audrey. She watched me carefully.
"Jess, just ask dumb questions to warm her up." Bridget instructions came from over my earpiece, but I didn't need to be told; I had already planned on doing just that.
"So what's your name?" I asked and Audrey narrowed her eyes.
"You know." she spat.
"Of course I do Audrey, I just wasn't sure if you did." I smiled. She seemed to be getting angry already, time for the next question. "Do you want to win today?"
"Yes. But how is that relevant?" she replied sharply.
"I'm the one asking the questions Audrey." I heard Bridget snicker through my ear piece. "I've always wondered this, Audrey do you hate me?" I smirked.
"Yes." but there was something that told me that wasn't the complete truth. Bridget confirmed it was a lie.
"You sure about that Audrey? Because Bridget says that's a lie." I pointed out.
"Want to ask me again?" she growled. So I asked her again and this time she said "Yes." Bridget laughed when she said it was the truth. I smiled. "How is this even relevant?" she was very hung up on that wasn't she?
"It's not." I said. "So Audrey what’s your favorite-?" but she cut me off.
"You're running out of time you idiot. Are you even going to ask me about the address?" she was frustrated and I could tell she was nervous. Good, I wouldn't need the paper. I looked down at my wrist like I had a watch, though I did not; I was just being a smart ass.
"Oh wow! Is that the time already?" I had a minute and a half left. I figured it was enough with the games, time to break her. I stood up and leaned over the table looking her right in the eye. She tried to look away, but I wouldn't let her.
"So Audrey, what is the address?" I asked firmly and she swallowed nervously. She didn't trust herself. Good.
"I'm not going to tell you." it sounded forced.
"C'mon Audrey. We both know you know the address. What is it Audrey?" if you keep saying someone’s name they are more likely to tell you what you want. She gave me a fake address. "You're lying." I told her. "Give me the real address Audrey." I didn't raise my voice but still she was getting really uncomfortable. She looked away and grudgingly mumbled an address. It matched the one I'd found on the paper. "Thanks Audrey." I smiled triumphantly. Then I spoke to the glass the address. I heard a tapping and I knew I had the right one. I took the slip of paper out of my pocket and put it on the table in front of Audrey. She stared at it.
