fire in my bones - fleurie
----"Momma, can we talk for a second?" I asked my mom, standing in the door of our art room. "Of course," she put her paint brush down and wiped her hands on her already stained t-shirt. "What's up?" I sat next to her on the chair.
"Will you do something with me on Wednesday?"
"Absolutely, what would you like to do?" She cleaned her paint brushes off. "Just hang out, or watch a movie. I just want to be with you or dad." She smiled
"Movie, and pig out?" I chuckled, "sounds great, mom." I hugged her and headed out the door to let her finish her work. I shuffled down the stairs to the kitchen, to find something to snack on. I grabbed an orange and headed to my room to relax for a
while. My dog Cameo, was sitting on my bed waiting for me. He was a pretty big dog. He is Bernese Mountain dog mixed with a Great Dane. He's my best friend, and the best cuddlier.
"Hey, Cameo." I cooed, as I laid down on the bed. I was the bigger spoon as Cameo fit himself in front of me. I rubbed his side with my thumb as I started rambling about stupid things. The good thing about Cameo was that he just listened.
------
I squinted as I woke up to the bright sun greeting my fuzzy eyes. "Jesus Christ," I mumbled, getting off my bed. I must have fallen asleep talking to Cameo. I didn't even have dinner. My stomachs growled. I hurried downstairs, knowing I was late for school, but my brain was fuzzy.
I grabbed an apple, throwing on a shirt I got off the hamper putting a slight dab of perfume from my moms collection to grasp the smell. My dad came downstairs with his work clothes on.
"What are you doing?" He mumbled, sitting at the table, "School? I woke up late."
"Evangeline, It's Saturday."
Jesus Christ, have mercy on me. I dropped my bag, "Then why are you going to work?" He paused, "I have a important meeting." I analyzed him. "Right. . ." I knew my dad was cheating on my mom a long time ago. I guess I was in denial and now I can admit it.
My mom was too invested in her work too see that my was cheating on her. At least she has an escape but I'm afraid when she comes to reality, she'll be devastated. "I better get going." I puffed, settling down at the table, "Whatever,"
The pain has been numbed. It's no longer there. Whatever pain I had from prior dates was gone. The pain was excruciating. If the pain was still here. . . I'd be long gone.
I need some painkillers
