From Letters to Love

.01 My First Letter

To the one I am to marry,

This is strange. Knowing that we have never met, and won't meet until a few months before we get married. Maybe we have met? Seen each other at the bar? Have mutual friends?

This just seems so strange, but maybe this isn't strange to you. I'm sure you'd like to know a bit about me. So here goes nothing.

I'm from a small town in Kansas. Everyone knows everyone around here so there are really no secrets. Once I address this letter to you then word will be out about it faster than you can say beaver.

I have two brothers. One older, and one younger. My parents have been happily married for over 35 years. I'd like our marriage to last forever like theirs had. I hope that isn't too much to ask.

My name is Rayne. All of my friends call me Ray though, so feel free to call me either I guess. Wow. I have no idea what to say. I am usually never at a loss for words.

When I found out that my parents had set up an arranged marriage, honestly I was furious. I'm only 22 after all! I wasn't planning on moving on with my life this fast. But, I'm coming around to the idea, and I hope you are too.

Our parents must have think we compliment each other in extreme ways if they wanted to set up something serious before we even met. Maybe that's for the best? Maybe our love will be more than we could ever imagine? Maybe not? I guess we will have to wait and see.

So this is the beginning of something new that I've wanted to do for a long time. The chapters will get longer after these first few because it's obviously a little awkard. Let me know what you think!
