Edlyn woke up with the sound of alarm buzzing. She set the alarm everyday at 6'o clock in the morning to get ready for college. She switched off the alarm and used to go back to bed daily, but today she woke up and did not want to go back to bed.
"Yes, I'll let this happen" she thought thinking of the resolution she made yesterday. She had her bath, packed her things and was all set to go.
Kreek......Kreeek......
The staircase made noise as she was enthusiastically getting down.
"Good morning Edlyn, why are you up so early? Isn't it vacation from today?" asked Deven Cavanaugh noticing Edlyn, sipping the tea.
Deven Cavanaugh was Edlyn's father. He was in his early 40's. He had very sharp eyes with black hair that withered for the air. Deven was working as an engineer in Detroit city.
"Good morning dad" greeted Edlyn.
"Good morning Edlyn" her mother greeted walking to the dining from the kitchen. "What is it honey ? Why are you up from bed so early ?" she said noticing her "And dressed up too?" she said with a puzzled look.
Edlyn noticed the puzzled look on her mother's face. Even before Esther came up with new questions, Edlyn replied " I am just planning to go and and spend time with Marie." The word "Marie" came with a delay. The sound of the word Marie from her mouth made Edlyn remember the good luck wished by Marie the day before.
Edlyn could now proudly tell her friend Marie that this time she is spending her vacation with her grandparents.
"Isn't Marie out for spending time with her family?" She always does that every vacation! Doesn't she?" inquired Edlyn's father.
"Oh god!" Edlyn thought. That was the first time she was having such kind of experience and her parents questionnaire was never stopping.
She recovered "It's not every time you are lucky to meet and spend time with your family!Marie isn't showing up this time, so we thought of hanging out together and oh! it is already 7'o clock and she might be quite mad at me if I am late" Edlyn said reaching the key stand.
"So are you taking the car with you?" inquired Mr.Cavanaugh.
"Yes dad, Marie's van is out in the workshop." she lied. "Don't worry dad,your car is safe in my hands!" Edlyn laughed.
"Check the gas level and drive her safe, Good bye" Mr.Cavanaugh said having the last sip of tea.
"Good bye Edlyn, take care" her mom shouted from the kitchen. "We would be expecting you soon honey "
"Good bye mom, good bye dad " greeted Edlyn walking and closing the door behind.
Everything outside appeared so new,calm and fresh. She walked her way to the garage. The road was just cleared of snow. She switched on the engine and was out of the garage and hit the road.
She switched on the radio and her favorite song from the album Black heart was playing
