In the coldness of the night, I shook my (f/c) wings to dry them. It had been 4 years since the humans attacked my home.
I sighed and walked into my cave. I sat down and lit a fire, before laying down and going to sleep.
In the morning, I put out my fire and spread my razor sharp wings. My scales still had droplets of water on them, but they still shimmered nonetheless.
I lifted up my claw and scratched an irritating piece of bird out of my teeth. I walked out of the cave into the cold breeze.
"Alright, today is the day," I said to myself.
I spread my sparkling wings and took off, heading for the skies. I did some loops in the air, feeling the air getting warmer. I let out a deep red blast that would have killed any human.
I flew over the deep ocean, heading South. I did some more loops and landed on a small island, covered with beautiful orange leaved birch trees.
I started humming. It was a tune my mother hummed to my brother and I to get us to sleep. I hummed it now to keep the memory of them.
I started flying again, catching fish whenever I could, and then stopping to eat them. Sometimes when birds flew past, I chased them, it was fun.
And in that moment, everything was perfect, I had air flying at my face and under my wings, I had a clear mind, and for once, I had an emotion I hadn't felt in a long time... Happiness. But then it changed to fear and dread when 3 words were called out.
"DRAGON UP AHEAD!" Yelled a voice, loud and clear through that warm, clear afternoon. Arrows fired toward me, and while I was dodging them, a net caught me. I let out a scream as my wings hung uselessly at my side as I plummeted toward the water. I hit it with a loud SPLASH. Then I felt the chains moving slowly toward the boat.
As I was hauled over the side of the boat I recognised these humans, they were the ones who attacked my herd. I screamed as loud as I could, which made them cover their ears and crouch down, but I still couldn't move. "Grinder, Sir, it's one of the DiamondWings that escaped from the herd, I think it's the last one." I heard a human say to another. I drew up my top lip in a deep, threatening growl.
"Knock it out." Said the man, Grinder, before I felt a sharp pain at the back of my neck before my vision turned black.
