Cameron's pov💢
"Dude." I say and walk into Matt's room.
"What?" He laughs. Good thing his girlfriend left yesterday or that would of been weird.
"How the hell do I ask Madison on a date?"
He smiles so wide.
"No. Do not give me that look. Just help me." I run my hands through my hair. He laughs.
"Dude relax. She likes you."
"She does?"
"Yes. You're just blind." He laughs again.
"Help me." I groan.
"Okay. Okay. Just go over there and be like 'hey I was wondering if you wanted to catch a movie' or something."
"A movie? That's lame."
"Beach date?" Matt suggests.
"Yes. Okay. I'll see you later." I start walking to the door.
"What If she says no?" I ask panicked.
"Dude. She won't. Go." He laughs. I walk back into our room. She's sitting on the bed on her phone.
"Hey." She smiles at me.
"Hey. Can I ask you something?" I ask her.
"Yeah sure. What's up?" She turns more towards me.
"Uhh.. Do you want to go on a date tonight by any chance?" I put my hands in my pockets.
"Yes." She smiles.
"Wait you just said yes?" I ask shocked. She giggles. Best. Sound. Ever.
"Yes." She said yes. Thank god.
"Okay. I'll pick you up at 7."
"Cameron we're in the same room."
"I'll get ready in Matt's room?" I suggest. She nods.
"Okay." She smiles.
Madison's pov💢
"Hey. Can I ask you something?" Cameron asks me. My heart starts pounding faster. What does he want to ask me?
"Yeah sure. What's up?" I play it off cool. But really I'm freaking out.
"Uhh.. Do you want to go on a date with me tonight by any chance?" He asks nervously. Finally! I thought he'd never ask.
"Yes." I smile at him.
-5:30pm-
I decide to shower before I start getting ready.
Before I can get into the bathroom I get a phone call.
'Marty' was on the screen. Weird.
"Hello?" I answer it.
"Hey. I was just calling to let you know that the national gymnastics organization had offered you a full scholarship. I know you quit gymnastics and all. But I still wanted you to have the opportunity to decide if you want to take it or not." I'm stunned.
"Umm... Wow. This is amazing. I.."
"You have 2 weeks to decide."
"Okay thank you so much Marty."
"No problem." I smile and hang up.
I did not expect this. Wow. I finally get into the shower. After that I blow dry my hair and straighten it. I go over to my suitcase looking for an outfit. I don't know what to wear. I don't even know where we're going. I grab my phone to text him.
Me: where are we going?
Cameron: it's a surprise.
Me: I need to know what to wear though.
Cameron: not too fancy, not too lazy.
Me: ugh. Fine.
I decide on leggings, and a navy blue cardigan, with my sperrys.
I put all that on and check the time.
6:30. Just enough time. I put on neutral color eyeshadow, mascara, and liquid eyeliner that's not too thick and not too thin. I hear a knock on the door. Just in time. I go to answer it and there stands Cameron and jeans, a three quarter shirt where the sleeves are a darker color than the rest of the shirt, and sperrys. Good. I'm not too overdressed.
"Ready?" He asks. I nod.
"We're walking there but it's not too far."
"Okay." I laugh.
After about 5 minutes we start passing the beach. I see a table set up with roses and lights. I can't believe he did this for me.
He guides me over to the table and pulls out my chair for me.
"Thanks." I smile at him.
"And tonight for dinner we have.." Cameron lifts the silver cover off the plate.
"Spaghetti." He says.
"I haven't had pasta in the longest time."
"Why?" Cameron asks.
"Gymnasts have to stay skinny and in shape. This is all carbs." I laugh.
"Well dig in." He says. After we are both stuffed he grabs my hand and we walk along the shore.
"Here." He hands me one of my bathing suits. I laugh.
"Go change." He points to the bathroom. I head into the bathroom and change quickly. Cameron's stands outside the doorway, changed into his bathing suit already. He grabs my hand and leads me to the water. I go ankle deep. It's so cold.
"It's freezing." He laughs, he picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"Cameron I swear to god if you drop me in the water.."
"You'll what?" He counters. I roll my eyes. He releases me but catches me before I go in.
"I hate you." I hit his arm.
"For that you're going under." He smiles.
"No." I whine. He laughs. He drops me in, but  the water is only up to my hips so I guess it's okay. I fold my arms trying to keep myself warm.
"You cold?" Cameron asks.
"No." I say sarcastically. He rolls his eyes playfully and wraps his arms around my waist trying to warm me up. It does a little. After he decides he's not helping he leads me out of the water.
"That was so cold I hate you." I joke. He laughs.
"Oh please. You love me." I roll my eyes and go back into the bathroom to change. He grabs my hand after I walk out and leads me down the shore, we walk hand in hand.
"So, you're a gymnast I know that. Is there anything else I should know about you?" Cameron asks me.
"No. Not that I can think of." I say with a laugh.
"Madison." I hear behind me. I turn around and see my dad. Shit.
"Well there is one thing..." I think of once I see my dad. Which is well, my dad.
I squeeze Cameron's hand tighter.
"Who's that?" Cameron whispers.
"My dad."
"Oh." He smiles.
"No. It's not like that." I say with a warning look.
He scoots closer to me.
"Long time no see." My dad smirks. Ew.
"How the hell are you out of jail? You still have another year left."
"Over crowding. They decided I did enough jail time. So they let me go." Great. Of course they fucking did. He steps closer. I step back. Cameron puts his arm around my waist pulling me closer into him.
"Who's this?" He asks motioning towards Cameron.
"Cameron." I simply say.
"Wow. You have a boyfriend? Finally." I roll my eyes.
"Never thought this day would come." He laughs. Oh great. Here we go.
"Why?" Cameron asks. Shit. Cameron why couldn't you keep your mouth shut. My dad smiles sweetly at him. But it's not sweetly its the Devils grin. Believe me on that one.
"Well you know she's ugly, fat, worthless-"
Cameron tenses up. I put my hand on his chest. I feel him relax. Thank god.
"We got to go." I whisper so only he'll hear. He nods slowly. My dad is still rambling on just insults. I don't really care. I've heard them all way too much. It's just annoying now.
"We're gonna go. It's late." Cameron says.
My dad nods.
"See you soon Madison." He smiles. Ugh. I'm gonna kill him. I hate him so much. But I'm scared shitless. Why the hell is he out of jail? I'm so screwed. Cameron intertwined our fingers together.
I know he's gonna ask what the hell was that back there when we get back to the room.
Surely enough once he closes the door behind him he asks
"Why the hell is your dad so rude to you? What happened? Why do you have this scar?" He says the last question quietly. He walks over to me, lifts up my shirt, and touches the scar, gently.
"You saw that?" I ask quietly and look down. "Yeah." He says softly.
"I'll explain everything. Just sit." I grab his hand and pull him to the bed. He sits in front of me. Both of us are sitting Indian style.
"Go." He urges.
"Okay. Well it all started when my mom died. I was 14. My dad was so upset for weeks. But one day when I came home from gymnastics my dad was drunk. I just went upstairs to my room. I didn't want to bother him. He came upstairs and started screaming at me telling me that I was worthless. This went on for about 2 months. I told Marty all this. He was the closest thing I had and I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know why my dad was so angry. Marty comforted me he use to let me stay later at the gym and come in earlier just so I could get out of the house more. I didn't go to school I was homeschooled. My dad stopped teaching me so I had to teach myself. I came home one day early, because Matt was coming back home after a family vacation. My dad came in my room, and instead of telling me I was ugly, and worthless, and fat, he decided to throw things at me instead. He first threw a few binders at me. But it didn't do anything. He took the lamp off of my desk and threw it at me. I didn't know why. I didn't even do anything to him. When the lamp shattered a piece of glass went into my side where my ribs are. That's how I got the scar. I didn't hear the doorbell ring. Even if I did I wouldn't of been able to go get it. My dad grabbed my history textbook and threw that at me. Matt saw that happen. He went down the stairs and called 911. When Matt came back up my dad threw another lamp at me, the glass went into my side again, making the scar bigger. Once 911 got there my dad started punching me, and kicking me. I was on the floor because a 15 year girl couldn't fight off a 6 foot tall 40 year old man. Matt obviously couldn't either. So the police arrested my dad, I was taken to the hospital to get stitches. Matt's mom let me live with them since she knew, well his whole family did. They just became my family. When I turned 18 I moved out of their house and got my apartment." I finish.
Cameron hugs me so tightly I could barely breathe.
"Cameron I can't breathe." I say. He pulls away.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you. That should of never happened to you. You didn't deserve that, you never did." A tear rolls down my cheek.
He wipes it away with his thumb. Our faces are just inches apart. He looks in my eyes, then at my lips, then back up at me. I don't do anything. What am I suppose to do? He leans in, but stops making sure it's okay. I just stay there. He leans in the rest of the way crashing his lips to mine.
We both pull away after a minute. I look down.
Cameron clears his throat.
"It's late we should probably go to bed." Cameron says. I nod. I go to the bathroom change into my pajamas, and brush my teeth. I can't believe we just kissed. What the hell just happened? I get into my bed, and fall asleep.
