Chapter 9:
Madison's pov💢
After I get off the phone with Marty I start packing. I have to go to the airport as fast as I possibly can. If Cameron sees me packing he'll try to stop me from leaving. He'll apologize for everything and I'll somehow end up staying because of him. He'd probably just kiss me again and I'd stay instantly. I can't let that happen. I have to get away for a while. Plus there's only a week left of magcon before their two week break for thanksgiving.
I hear a knock on the door. I stand up and go to answer it.
"Hey." Aaron stands there.
"Hey. What's up?"
"Can I talk to you?" He asks.
"Sure." I nod and let him in.
"What are you doing?" He looks at my suitcase.
"Packing."
"For?"
"I'm leaving." I simply say. I don't want to get into it.
"What? No! You can't! We still have a week. Cameron didn't mean anything he said. I know that. He's sitting in Matt's room now all messed up about it. He's freaking out about how he hurt you." Aaron rambles on.
"Look Aaron I'm not leaving because of that. No one knows I'm leaving. You can't tell anyone. Okay?"
"You're not gonna tell Matt?"
"He'd just ask me to stay, and I can't go through that. I have to go. I know this is the right decision. I need to take this scholarship."
"Scholarship?" Aaron asks confused. Ah. Shit.
"I got offered a full scholarship for gymnastics."
He hugs me.
"That's great!" He smiles.
"That's why I'm leaving. You can tell Matt. But no one else until tomorrow okay?"
"Okay." He nods.
"Thank you. I'm really gonna miss you." I hug him.
"I'm gonna miss you too." He hugs me tighter. He leaves to let me finish packing. I think I got everything. I pick up my suitcase from the bed and put it on the floor. I leave my room key on Cameron's night stand and walk out of the room. Bye L.A.
Cameron's pov💢
-next day-
"She left!?" I freak out.
"Dude relax. She just wanted that scholarship." Aaron tries to calm me down.
"This is all my fault."
"She's not upset or angry at you. She just wanted to go back to training. I swear." Aaron says.
Matt looks upset.
"I know her. She left because of the scholarship. This just sent her over the edge to actually do it." Matt buts in.
Madison's pov💢
I got home the next day after I left. I got home just in time to start training today. I'm so excited. But all I can think about is Cameron. Cameron. Cameron the guy who kissed me. The guy who took me on the beach date. The guy who called my ex an asshole. Which is true. The guy who knows about my dad. Only Matt, Marty, and now Cameron knows. I became so close to Cameron so quickly. I got attached. I can't believe I let that happen. No more. Time to clear my head. I drive to the gym. I walk in and Marty's smile grows. He comes over and hugs me.
"Thank god you're back. You can't believe the people who I've tried to train. None were as good as you." I laugh.
"Thanks. But I'm out of practice."
"Just get back into the swing of things today." Marty pats my shoulder and walks back to the girl he was helping. I take off my track pants, and sweat shirt. Which leaves me in my designer leotard. I head over to the beam. I do a switch jump but lose my balance and jump off. What the hell? I can do that in my sleep. Probably because I'm out of practice. I shrug and get back on.
I go for my front tuck. I land it quickly on the beam but my feet slip and I fall off onto my knees.
Ugh. After about 10 minutes of trying to land my front tuck on the beam, Marty comes over.
"What's up with you? I get your out of practice. But you shouldn't be out of practice that much."
"I don't know." I say frustrated. I lean on the beam and hang my head in between my arms.
"Boy?" He asks. I look up at him.
"So that's a yes." He laughs.
"Oh please. Marty, No boy can make me lose my focus."
"Except for this one?" He smirks.
"Ugh." I groan and get back on the beam.
"Maybe start with floor. Take a break from this." I nod. I hop off the beam and head over to the floor. I end up landing on my knees and catching myself with my hands from falling forward. What the hell? I could do that move since I was 15.
Austin comes up to me, he's just one of my really close friends.
"Having trouble?" He laughs.
"Ugh. Yes." I roll my eyes.
"Just forget about him."
"Why does everyone think it's a boy?" I ask.
"By looking at you. You're all frazzled, frustrated." I roll my eyes again and walk away. I can't deal with this right now. The rest of the day consisted of me falling on my ass, my knees, all fours. I hate this. Everyone has left the gym. Including Marty but I'm staying late. I need to. Obviously. It's about 9pm everyone left at 5.
I decide to just give up and get some rest. This is ridiculous. I lock up the gym with keys Marty gave me, and go home. I take a hot shower which is needed because I'm sore as hell. I hop into my bed and fall asleep.
-dream-
My dad is in my room. He's watching me sleep. I wake up.
"Get out! You're not suppose to be here!" I yell.
He just moves closer.
"Stop!" I yell. He stands next to me on my bed.
"Get away from me!"
He punches my jaw to get me to stop talking. It starts to bleed.
"What do you want from me!?" I cry.
"To get revenge. You put me in jail for 2 years!" He yells and punches me in the ribs.
"Stop!" I cry.
"We're just getting started." He punches me in my stomach.
"No!" I cry.
-end of dream-
Cameron's pov💢
I decided to go after Madison. Yes, I know, weird. But I can't be away from her this long. So I took a plane and flew out. I got there around 11:45pm. I drove to Madison's apartment. Good thing Matt gave me the address. I don't want to knock and wake her up. I don't have a key. I look under the pot next to her door. A spare key is there. I put it in the lock and turn it. I put the key back under the pot and walk in.
"No!" I hear Madison yell.
I drop my bag by the door and run to her room. She's having a nightmare. Again. She has these all the time.
"No!" She says again and turns over.
"Madison." I shake her.
"No!" She yells again.
"Madison." I shake her harder. Nothing.
"No!"
"Mads." I shake her again.
"Ah!" She screams and grabs my arm.
"Oh. It's just you." She sighs.
"It's okay." I sit next to her. She starts breathing heavy.
"It's okay." I say again.
"No. He- he" she struggles to get out.
"It's okay." I wrap my arm around her. She puts her head in my shoulder. I wrap my other arm around her waist too. After a while she calms down.
"Better?" I ask her. She lifts her head up off my shoulder and looks at me.
"Yeah." She says softly.
I start to get up.
"Wait." She says. I turn to look at her.
"Can you.. Um.. Stay here?" She asks.
"Yeah." I nod and scoot back next to her. I wrap my arm around her. She scoots back closer to me. I wish I could sleep every night like this, but she only wants me next to her because she had a nightmare.
-next morning-
I wake up and Madison is still in my arms sound asleep, facing my chest, since she's shorter than me. Her eyes flutter open. She looks up at me and scoots away.
"Sorry." She says softly. Sorry? Sorry? She doesn't need to be sorry. I could of left.
"It's fine. Trust me." I stand up.
"Why are you here? How'd you get in here?" She asks.
"I came here to see you and I used the key you have hidden under the pot outside your door. Wow that sounds really creepy." I realize. She chuckles.
"No. It's fine. It's a good thing you did." She looks down.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She looks up at me.
"I think you already know what it's about."
I nod.
"I'm sorry." I move closer to her.
"I have to go to the gym." She walks out of her room.
Madison's pov💢
I tried so hard to get rid of my stupid feelings for Cameron. Then he comes last night and is just the sweetest guy ever. He stayed next to me all night when he didn't even need to. I  decide to go to the gym. I got to get away from him. I walk in and Marty and a couple other people are already there.
"Hey mads." Marty says. I smile at him.
"You think you're gonna have a better day today?" He asks, not rudely though. Most people would.
"Yeah, let's hope." I look at the door behind me then back at Marty. He gives me a weird look.
"Okay." He nods slowly and walks into his office. I decide to start with bars today. Maybe that'll help. I put chalk on my hands, and head over to the bars. I do everything perfectly, now it's time for my dismount. I land, but fall on my knees right away.
"Mads." I hear someone call my name. I look up and see Cameron.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him.
"To see you. You just ran off. What's wrong?" He asks so concerned. He comes over to me and helps me up.
"Cameron, I'm fine." He doesn't look convinced.
"I promise." He still doesn't look convinced.
"Madison." I turn around. I walk over to Marty.
"He's the guy?" He smiles.
"What? No." I lie. He raises his eyebrows.
"Okay fine. Maybe." I sigh.
"Go home. Take the day off." Marty says.
"What?" I ask confused.
"Go." He says.
"Okay..." I slowly turn and go back to Cameron.
"Let's just talk about this somewhere else." I grab Cameron's hand and pull him outside the gym.
We both get into our cars and drive back to my apartment. We both get in the elevator and I push 3.
It's awkward silence the whole way up. I open up the door and walk in.
"Okay. What the hell? You're freaking me out." Cameron says.
"Nothing. It's just... The dream really shook me up." I think of a different reason quickly.
"What was it about?" Cameron asks super concerned.
"Trust me. I'm fine." I put my hand on his arm.
"It doesn't seem like it." He puts his hands on my waist. I jump.
"What? Did that hurt?" Cameron moves his hands away.
"No. It didn't hurt."
"Then why'd you jump?" He furrows his eyebrows.
"I... Uhh... I just wasn't expecting it." I lie. It was because of the damn affect he has on me. I got to get rid of these feelings.
