Chapter 24

Ellie's POV

I sit up and stretch, rays of sunlight shining down on me. I go and make me some coffee, then I make another cup for Alex because I'm sure she is gonna need it, I mean I don't really even know when she got back last night.

I walk down the hall and to her room, peeking in before entering. I set the cup down and sit down next to her. Alex's eyes flutter open, but she doesn't smile. "So how did it go yesterday?" I ask, she groans covering her face. "It was terrible! He was drunk and he yelled at me....he was saying things like....I don't even wanna get into that. It just wasn't him and I can't help but feel like...like its my fault he's doing stuff like that." Tears were beginning to roll down her cheeks. I pat her back handing her some tissue, "Hey you know he would never say something like that sober...." She nods sitting up taking a sip of her coffee, " I'm glad I moved here with you. I'd probably be a huge mess if you weren't here." I chuckle and hug her. "Come on lets go have a movie marathon!" She smiles standing up" I'm gonna get cleaned up first!" I nod and walk back to the kitchen.

We had been on our fourth movie when there was a knock at our door. I stand up and stretch, Alex pauses the movie. I open the door and see Mark, I smile "Hey! Come in" he shuffles pass me. Alex turns around and waves "Sup Mark!" He smiles and waves, then turns towards me, running his hand through his hair, "What's up?" I ask, he exhales trying to look everywhere but me.

I raise my eyebrows "Mark...?" Then he spits out what he needed to say, I almost don't catch it "I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date tonight" he looks at me in the eyes before adding "with me.." I stare at him for a moment and then laugh, which causes him to tense up. "Yeah of course I will!" He exhales and slumps against the wall. "Well now that, that is out of the way, I was wondering if...." He trails off looking at Alex, who is looking between the both of us.

She stands up "What about me?" He shuffles a bit before answering "Well....someone needs to monitor Jack...." She laughs "he is a grown ass man who can take care of himself!" I cover my mouth "daaammmn" Mark sighs "Yeah okay he is a grown man, but do you really think he can take care of himself? Especially in his state of mind?"

Alex thinks for a moment "What so you want me to babysit him? That's not my job." Mark grabs her shoulder, "All you have to do is sit at my place for a few hours,checking on him every 30 minutes or so, that's all I'm asking!" She looks at me then back at Mark, then rolls her eyes yet again. "Fiiiine, your both lucky I want to see you guys together!" I hug her and Mark pats her back.

"I'll be back at 7 okay?" I nod, he walks out. I turn and begin getting ready.

I walk out of the bathroom all dressed up and ready to go out. I have no idea as to where Mark is gonna take me, which is always something I like, I mean who doesn't like a good surprise? I walk into the living room and see Alex sitting in a pair of black sweats and a JackSepticEye sweater. I chuckle "what's with the sweater?" She turns and looks at me and whistles " You look hot! And my other sweaters are dirty and this one was the only clean on left, plus its very comfy!" We both laugh.

"Are you sure you'll be okay here? Like with Jack I mean." She sighs "Yeah I suppose so...don't worry about it, you just go have a goodnight with Mark okay? Atleast one of us will be having a great night...."

Then there is a knock at the door and I open it and see Mark in a nice button-up shirt some jeans and black vans. When he sees me he smiles and covers his mouth, "Daaaamn, I am one lucky guy!" I feel myself blush. Alex comes up behind me "let's get this show in the road!" We all walk next door, "Okay so Jack is awake but he is just laying on his bed, he doesn't have any alcohol...I made sure of that. Just keep an eye on him and we'll be back in a while." She smirks "take as long as you two need! I've got things taken care of here!" He closes the door and we leave.

"So where we going?" I ask, Mark grabs my hand and smiles. "Its a surprise." I feel my stomach flip, not with like a sick feeling but more like an excited/nervous feeling. Mark turns to me "Do you trust me?" I giggle "of course I do." He smiles and kisses me, my smile grows bigger. "Then close your eyes and hold on to my hand." I breathe in. I grab his hand and close my eyes. He kisses my cheek and we walk up what feels like a small hill.

Every now and then we would stop he would kiss me or my cheek. Then we finally stop. "Okay we're here...open your eyes." I hesitate for a moment, then I open my eyes and a warm feeling spreads through my entire body. There is a blanket on the ground, a basket, and some red wine. I look at him, "Oh Mark....this is beautiful and amazing." " I'm glad...really glad." We sit down and he pours us some wine. We chat for a while and eat the food he brought.

After awhile Mark stands up and looks down at me "Let's dance." I look around "but there is no music.." I stand up joining Mark for a dance. "We don't need music..." I lay me head on his chest as we sway. I listen to his steady heartbeat, feel the warmth of being in his arms, his calm breathing. "Mark?" I whisper, "Yes Ellie?" I breathe in and out. "Im completely in love with you." He chuckles "I've been in love with you since I first met you." I look up at him "Why?" He stops and looks at me, a gentle smile forming in his face " There is a moment when you say to yourself 'Oh! There you are I've been looking for you forever' when I first met you that was the moment for me about you. I've been waiting forever for you."

We stare into each others eyes for an eternity, the space between us filled with electricity. Mark leans into me and kisses me, and I embrace it not ever wanting this moment to end.
