Look back at the first chapter to refresh your memory.
Shawn was going to be coming to my house today to hang out.
I was so excited. So so so excited. I kept messaging the boy. "Where are you?" "When are you coming?" He was going to come after church, but didn't end up coming around until, like, 3. I was happy he was here. But he didn't get a very good first impression to my family...
My older sister, who was living with us along with her husband and four kids, got a new puppy. His name was Ace, a blonde colored pit bull, with the most beautiful blue-green eyes. He also had heterochromia, which is basically when the two eyes are different colors. The one was slightly more hazel than the other, but it wouldn't be noticeable from a distance. They also had a pit-lab mix, and she was the gentlest thing you could ever meet. She's so protective over her family. I don't get why pit bulls have such a bad reputation. German shepherds once had a bad reputation. So did Rotties. You'll have a bad dog if you don't train them and treat them properly. Well considering Ace was a new puppy in the house, well.
He pooped on the floor.
Shawn stepped in it.
I felt so bad. No one had noticed that Ace had pooped near the door. I soon found myself cleaning Shawn's shoe as he sat in front of our one TV. The super Nintendo was hooked up to that TV, and we planned to play that. I told him so much about it on the bus, and he was definitely interested.
"I am so so so sorry." I said as I cleaned his shoe. He remained silent as I continued to ramble on. "I should have checked." I used the wipe and dipped into the crevices of the shoe. "I'm sorry. The least I can do is clean your shoe since you're the guest." He still remained quiet, watching me as I got the dog poop out of his shoe. His eyes also wavered to the TV every once and a while, as I could tell he wanted to play the super Nintendo. So did I, but I was being the kind host by cleaning the guest's shoes.
Once I was done, I spoke once more. "Again, I'm so sorry. I tried to get the most off that I could." He spoke, finally. "It's okay. I know what it's like to have a puppy."
I smiled. He responded, actually said something. I knew he was shy, but I wanted him to be comfortable with my family. He wouldn't be for a while, actually. I was comfortable with part of his, as I knew his mom and sister from a community choir. I knew his dad from helping out with the band, but I barely knew his brother.
We played games of his choice, like Super Mario; he wanted to be Luigi so he would be second player. I was horrible at the game, and we laughed at all the stupid deaths I had made. Missed the next platform by a lot, or even missed it by a bit, Goomba had somehow hit me, etc. There's always those kind of hacks in the game. We got to world 2, and quit there to play another game.
I had managed to convince him to let us play a round or two of Tetris Attack. Now, I have been playing that game since I was a kid, and my parents played it while my mom was pregnant with me. I can beat both of them, so I'm pretty good at the game. As expected, I won both games, but Shawn didn't really understand the controls at first. Even so, I won, though he played well for a beginner.
We played a variety of other games like a racing game, Pac-Man, and many others. Shawn didn't have dinner with us that night, and I worried why he didn't. But when he left, I felt, happy. I felt a bit complete. Over the fact that I was able to hang out with him. But yet, I wouldn't let myself dive that deep yet. It took us a while to have our first kiss, actually. About two weeks, actually.
--------------------------------------------
Krystal and I had planned a Halloween movie marathon thing at her house, considering I didn't have a marching band competition that weekend. So why not? I haven't seen her in a while, and her and I agreed that we could invite a few extras. Our list consisted of Shawn, Stephen, Amber, Gileon, Cris, some of Krystal's friends, and Andrew, Krystal's lover at the time. In the end, Shawn, Stephen, and Andrew were the only ones that could come. Gileon was grounded, so that eliminated both her and Cris since they were dating. Amber didn't like horror movies and that was the main thing we were going to do.
Andrew and Krystal weren't actually a thing until November, but acted like they were. Andrew was a senior in high school, while she was a freshmen. They went to different schools, Andrew at mine and Krystal in Whitehall. Doomed to fail most of the time, but the two made it work for a while, until Krys lost feelings. But she had told me many stories about what they had done, in rather great detail, while I sat there thinking, "Okay, I get it, shut up, this is not a matter to talk about even if I've been friends with you since we were babies." I was overprotective of Krystal, especially around guys because of what had happened to her at a young age. But, she prefers to keep that unknown, so I will not mention what exactly happened. It's her private life. You can probably take somewhat of a guess too.
She's been more protective of herself than me protecting her. I'm honestly surprised she let the boy in. They started talking at my 15th birthday, and they bonded rather well, actually. Krystal had someone to hang out with while I had marching band season. The girl I had known forever told me that she gets kind of bored when she can't hang out with me. The only time she got to see me was at Catty football games, both to see me preform and just to spend time with me. We had planned that at the beginning of the season, she would come to all the home Catty football games, sitting with the guard, Amber, Hope, Maggie, and I. We all had a lot of fun, and at the end of the season, Krystal considered herself more of a Roughie than a Zephyr. Considering we didn't see each other often, that was the reason we had this get together.
When everyone got there, we watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Andrew and Krystal were cuddling, with Stephen on that same couch, sitting, and Shawn and I were on the other couch. We were seated quite far from each other, and clearly Krystal was mad at this. Every time I looked over at her, she gave me this mean look and took her two pointer fingers, tapping them together meaning I should scooch closer to Shawn. Eventually, Andrew joined in on the action, while Stephen watched the movie. I tried getting closer, but in small amounts. Every time I moved, he moved, usually further away. I took it as a form of rejection, but I was more interested in the movie, considering I never saw it.
Due to not seeing it, a perfect time came up for me to get closer, though it was a late reaction. Someone ran a cow over and the cow burst into smithereens. I over exaggerated my reaction, throwing my head onto Shawn's lap. "NOT THE MOO-MOO!" I 'cried'. Then, I moved back, but just a bit closer when I sat up. I did this multiple times throughout the movie, but it never seemed to please Krystal.
After this movie was over, we took a small break, by playing Truth or Dare. I made the wrong mistake to get a dare from Krystal or Andrew. They both were the sneaky kind, and since they weren't pleased with the results from watching the first movie, they were going to make it happen now.
Stephen just sat there. The odd one out, the fifth wheel, the only single one.
