Surviving in Colorado (TBP fanfic)

Finally Here

      "Kay Kimberly, what does the road map say? Where do I turn?" Reid says to her. She pulls the map off of the dash and opens it up slowly.

      "Um not too far Reid. We have to pass this like, another mile and then it'll be on the right." Kimberly replies. Reid nods and looks at Neil in the rear view mirror. Neil looks up from the scenery to see Reid's bright blue eyes illuminated by his dark brown hair staring at him intently.

      Neil shrugs and says "What are you looking at me for?"

      Reid laughs and says "I don't know, a donkey... or a monster?" Neil gives him a look. Reid looks back to the road and chuckles.

      Kimberly smacks his cheek enough to get his attention but not to make him swerve off the road.

      "What was that for, he asked!" Reid whines at her. Kimberly just gives him a glare and reaches her hand back to rub Neil's knee.

      "Awe he is just being mean Neil."

      Neil chuckles and says "I know Kimberly, and I could say the same to him. I guess a horse's rear is looking at me from the front."

      Kimberly is shocked at her brothers' behavior towards each other and proceeds to slap both of them, really hard this time. Neil just laughs and Reid flashes his blue eyes back at him in the mirror again and grins. They know what happened in the woods, but she doesn't. Kimberly looks at Reid, who looks like a dork with his huge grin and sighs.

      "First you were grouchy and wouldn't tell me why, and now you are overly happy and won't tell me why." Kimberly huffs.

      Reid rolls his eyes and replies. "Well I don't have to tell you everything. And besides it doesn't matter to you sis."

      Kimberly gasps and says "Doesn't matter? Reid everything matters to the oldest. Well I guess you wouldn't know that feeling so I can't blame you."

      Reid moans and says "So about that place we turn off?"

      Kimberly is shaken from her thoughts and says "Oh! Well I guess right here!" Reid looks to his right, slams on the brakes and makes a hard right, throwing Kimberly and Neil to the left.

      "Thanks for that early warning sis." Reid huffs sarcastically.

      She makes a face and yells "Sorry jeez! But here we are so drive slower." Reid slows down to about 20. The road isn't too bad, but he can see rocks appearing on the road between spaces in the trees.

      "Reid I just thought of something... do you even know how to drive on a 4x4 trail in something like this?" Neil asks worriedly while giving Reid a face.
