I didn’t wake until late morning early afternoon. I didn’t wake up on my own I heard music, that rave sort of music blaring from somewhere in the house I was in. I opened my eyes to the glaring sun; I sat up and faced a room covered in papers and books. I felt something against my skin; I looked and saw a thin blanket like the one my mother gave me. It smelt of human, I pushed it off me quickly. Stupid human thought he could keep me warm with a blanket; think again. I stood up and wobbled, I gained my balance quickly. Before I could go anywhere the human John came into the living room carrying a tray of something.

“Sit back down, I got you breakfast. I didn’t know what you liked so I guessed really. I got you a cup of blood though. A cup full of the stuff.” He placed the tray down upon the sofa and went down next to it. On the tray I saw the human food and then I saw the white tea mug full nearly to the top of red liquid.

“Where did you get the blood from?” John smiled,

“Special place” I couldn’t help as he leaned on the sofa deep cuts with stitches in all up his right arm. He must of saw me looking because he moved it out of my view; I knew what he had done. The special place was himself, noble yet stupid. But at least he was nice enough and offered it on his own course. I picked up the mug and looked at John as I took a sip, the sweet, thick liquid flowed into my mouth. It was so soothing, beats having tomato juice at college.

“What do you think?”

“It’s nice, thank you.” I still heard the music blaring out from the different room.

“Sorry for the music, I can stick something else on that you might like.” I shook my head,

“No it sounds interesting.” I listened to the fast beats and drums and other different instruments that was in this piece of music. I listen to the few words that sounded in the piece. I had never heard of this kind of music before. At least humans were good for some things. I looked at the pictures of my family and friends on the wall, and then I noticed something sticking out of the old yellow pages book, I leaned forward and slipped it out. It was slightly crumpled; I looked at the main picture. I saw my whole family and friends, and then I noticed the extra figure next to my father and mother. He was young teenager smiling like he was one of us.

“What’s this?” I said holding it the picture towards John,

“That is a picture of all of us. Your father made me sneak in so as none of you would attack me.” Clever dad, I smiled. John looked so at ease with us, and then I noticed he was holding my younger sister. She was smiling and wrapping her arms around John as if he were a vampire himself.

“Your father counted me as family.”

“Why?” John looked away and walked out of the room and out of sight. I heard the music from the other room suddenly stop and silence followed. He didn’t return, I looked around the room and then I started to tidy up the dump of a mess. I didn’t like mess, by the time I had finished it was lunchtime and John still hadn’t returned. I went into the kitchen to see if he was there, but no sign could not be seen of him. I could smell him so he was in the house somewhere; I saw a big yellow sticky note attached to the fridge. I went up and looked at the note it read:

Dear Alexia

Your lunch is on the third shelf, right hand side.

John.

I opened the fridge and looked in and saw the lunch just where he had stated. I saw five cups full of blood. Wow he’s really been busy; I took one cup. I decided to make John a sandwich and I took a glass from a cupboard and filled it with water. I went in search of John. I heard his voice as I passed a door on my right; I stopped and went closer to the door to hear. If any person says vampires have sensitive hearing and can hear through doors needs a good slap. I defiantly heard John inside, so I stayed and listened.
