I slowly blinked my eyes open, I still felt a bit dizzy and my whole body ached. I didn’t want to move; I heard voices hushing each other. I saw a blurry figure appear above me, I heard distance out of focus voices. I kept blinking, my vision was still blurry but I started to make out shapes. The voices started to come closer to me and they started to form words, I heard someone calling my name.

“Alexia, can you hear me Alexia?” the voice said, I tried to open my mouth but it felt like it had been sealed shut with a welder.

“Do you think she’ll pull through, she’s been through a lot.” Said another voice, I felt the voices go distant and my vision fade to blackness once again.

When I came back around I blinked open my eyes and saw that the room was shrouded in darkness of the night, I saw the pale white beams of moonlight shine into the room. My vision was better. I heard a few voices outside somewhere to my left, I turned my head and almost cried as it hurt badly and it cracked. The voices stopped outside and I saw a door open, three people stepped into the room.

“Are you awake Alexia, can you hear me?” I heard John’s voice; I turned my head back up to the ceiling. I opened my mouth and found it stiff but I could open it and talk,

“Yes I can hear you” my voice was faint, barely even a whisper. I heard John get closer and sit on the edge of the bed, the other two people stood at the foot of the bed I was in.

“How do you feel?” said another voice,

“Like hell, where am I?” I said,

“You’re safe, and in your room” said a deep voice,

“What happened?” I said, my voice getting slightly stronger.

“Well you were beaten around a lot by Darikan and you blacked out and you’ve been in this bed for over two weeks.” John said,

“So long, why didn’t you take me the council?”

“Whoa hold your horses there young girl, the council wouldn’t accept the state your in, in both terms.” Said the second voice,

“What you mean by both states?”

“Well you’re not fit enough to move to the council nor is your status as an outcast been erased.” Said the third voice,

“What do you mean by status?” I said, a bit of anger flaring in my voice.

“Look Alexia, when I got you. All your family were dead, when that happens you are instantly placed into an outcast class. If someone doesn’t take you on you’ll be hunted down, tried and executed for being an outcast.” John said,

“John here asked me to see if he could take you on.” Said the second voice,

“Take me on like a student or a daughter or something?” I said,

“No as my partner Alexia, I asked to see if I could be wed with you. The age thing might be a little weird but in the end it’s worth it, your status will be changed if you accept.” John said calmly. I didn’t know what to say to this, everything was going to fast for me to collect any thoughts into my head.

“This all too much, can I at least think it over in my mind.” I said to them, they looked at me with slight surprise at my answer. John gave a big smile,

“Yeah, sure you can. Take as long as you need.” I smiled back, John stood up from the bed and the rest turned to the door and John followed them out of the room and closed the door gently. I continued to stare at the ceiling then I gently closed my eyes, I slept a dreamless sleep once more.
