I held the sheet of paper in my hand praying over and over that this time the news would be good news. Three times I've applied to Elite Dance Academy, and three times I've been rejected. Their standards were exceptionally high and I was at a disadvantage because I specialized in only one area of dance. The academy requires that you be able to master at least three different dances under a broad category. The categories were, Ballroom dances, Traditional Jazz dances, Worldwide dances/Latin dances, Professional performance dance, Modern dances, Hip-hop and funk dance, and Cultural dances. My area of expertise is salsa. Based on the academy's catalogue that fell under Worldwide/Latin dances.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes. What's one more disappointment? I've already been rejected three times already. A fourth wouldn't kill me. I scanned the content of the letter couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had been accepted. After so many tries I had finally been accepted. I sank to the floor feeling completely drained. All my hard work had led to this. I have been accepted to Elite Dance Academy.

After staring at the sheet of paper for about fifteen minutes my adrenaline kicked in and I hopped down the stairs two at a time screaming for my mother.

"Mom! Mom! Where are you? Mom!"

She ran through the front door looking around wildly.

"What? What is it? What's wrong?"

"I got in." She looked at me blankly. I waved the sheet of paper in front of her. "I got in to the academy."

She grabbed the paper from me and scanned it in excitement.

"You got in," she screamed. She hugged me and we started jumping around and screaming that I'd gotten in. "We have so many things to do if you're going to be leaving in a week," she said after pulling away.

"Huh?"

"We only have a week to get you ready. It says so right here."

What was she going on about? I took the letter from her and read each line carefully. She was right. I'd assumed this acceptance was for the next school year, but actually it was a late acceptance for this school year which has already started. I read further. There was also a condition to me accepting. I would be given the position of captain to girls' dance group Girls Dynasty. I frowned. This was unheard of. I didn't think too much on it though because my dream had finally come true. I, November St. Patrick would be attending Elite Dance Academy in approximately one week. I could not be happier.
