A budding friendship
"November! Open up! November! Are you in there?"
Samantha was knocking away furiously at my door. I just wanted her to go away. Luke had finally closed his eyes and she was ruining that peace. I hurried over to the door and blocked her path before she could come in.
"What is it?"
"Are you okay?"
She looked me over.
"I'm fine."
"You missed your classes."
"I know. I had some things to take care of."
"What things?"
"Just some things. I'm not really feeling well. I'm sorry if I made you worry."
I could tell she didn't buy it but I didn't care at the moment.
"I'll call you later. I just need to rest a bit."
"Are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I'll be fine. I'll call you later."
Luckily she left without further prying and I went back inside. I was foolish to hope that Samantha's disturbance hadn't woken Luke. He was staring straight at me when I got back to the bed.
"I'm sorry for keeping you away from your classes."
"It's okay. How are you feeling?"
"I'm not sure."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't know. I've never really relied on anyone before. I've always dealt with it on my own and in my own way."
I laced our fingers together.
"You don't have to anymore. You have me now."
"I'm going to kiss you. If you don't want me to you should probably move away from me."
I smiled inside.
"Who says I don't want you to?"
I pressed my lips against his before he had the chance to question his decision. I felt his body relax and felt him give in to me. This was my second kiss ever in life and I had no idea what to do, which Luke seemed to pick up on. He unlaced our fingers and brought his palms up to cup my cheek. His lips were soft and gentle. I followed his lead. When he moved I moved too. He was in control. After a few seconds he pulled away and just stared at me.
"You missed your classes because of me."
"It's fine. I was having trouble keeping up anyway."
He smiled.
"Were you?"
"I've been a little distracted."
He smirked.
"Have you?"
I nodded.
