Chapter One
Updates for this story will be very sporadic. I hope you are prepared for this. But, I have written a large majority of this story. The problem is, I wrote it by hand, and I have yet to transfer it from that, into type on the computer. So, that's my biggest fallback.
The first show of Warped Tour...
"This is our first Warped Tour, we need to go out there and make our fans proud," Anthony starts, "we're an underdog right now, and this show is a determining factor for how this tour will go."
"We have the skills to rock this," Lily continues for him, "we have a great drummer, an amazing guitarist, a phenomenal tour manager, an awesome bassist, and excellent vocals. Our songs have meaning and an awesome beat."
Brendon takes over for her, continuing where she left off, his guitar in hand, "this is the start of what could possibly be our best summer yet."
I smile, going into our countdown, "three, two..."
"Let's fucking do this," we all shout in unison.
I run on stage, grabbing my drumsticks out of my pockets, giving a peace sign to the crowd as I take a seat behind my drum set. Bren follows me, taking a seat with his guitar in hand. He sat on the edge of my drum risers, the crowd screaming as he does so. Anthony comes out, jumping onto a riser at the front of the stage. Lily comes out last, running onto center stage.
"How're we all doin' today?" Lily screams, earning a positive response from the crowd. "Today is our first show as a band playing Warped tour. Sure, we've toured with a few more-well known bands, but Warped is an experience like never before."
"To kick things off," Bren starts, running up and throwing his arm around Lily, using her mic, "we thought we would play a cover for you lovely guys. I'm sure a large part of you know, or at least have heard of Rise Against."
"This is our rendition of Prayer of a Refugee," Lily screamed, earning screams from the crowd, Anthony, Bren, and I playing the first lines of the song.
I'll admit that the song wasn't sounding as most are familiar with. A female vocalist typically can't do this song justice, but Lily was way beyond capable of singing this song; and doing it well.
As the song comes to a close, I was getting ready to go into Ten Times Better, knowing it was the next song that was meant to be played.
"Alright everyone, we're making a slight change to the setlist. This next song is a favorite of our band, and I fell like you guys, the fans, have really enjoyed it too," Lily starts, stopping to take a drink of her water that was resting on Bren's riser. "And Brendon had begged for us to play this song. And, in all honesty, I really feel like it's for little miss Rae sitting over there behind the drums. This is To Die For."
I start the drum beat, being followed by Anthony and Bren. Lily starts to sing, "She's to die for
a little murder on the dance floor calls her name..."I loved this song, and the meaning was strong. I knew why Bren wanted to add it last minute, without confronting me and telling me. He wanted a reaction from me, he wanted me to react to being in such a close proximity to Tony.
I'll admit, I wasn't completely okay. But I'll be damned if I let anyone know. Especially because of Brendon. I left Tony, and that's where the should have ended; sure, it didn't end exactly there, but it ended.
~~~
A stepped out of my shower, a towel lazily draped around me, my hair tangled and dripping wet, the cold water refreshing as it dripped onto my skin. I always went last for a shower after a show. I'd rather take a cold shower than a hot one. I loved getting to take a show, especially while on tour, and the cold showers slowly became my favorite.
