Crash, glass spilled onto my floor. The window broken, by a rock. My heart beat wildly in my chest. I got up and stepped over the glass, making my way over to the rock which lay on my floor. I reached the rock and picked it up from the ground. It had a note tied around it, I unravelled it.
Katherine,
We will not hurt them if you come out now. We will let them go, it is you that we want. We have an offer for you. If you chose to come out willingly we will not harm the Cobbs. If it takes you longer than twenty four hours to come out, we will be using force. Then we will be making no such promises.
I advise you to think about our offer very carefully.
Nickolas.
I reread the note. Jess and Ben could get hurt and if I were to go to Nickolas they wouldn't be harmed. It was a losing battle anyway. Why should I hold out for several more days and prolong the truth. We were going to get dragged down, we were going to get captured.
"Morning Kate- What the hell happened here?" Ben walked placing a tray of food on my bed. He walked over to where the glass had spread over my floor. I stepped over the shards toward him. I leaned over handing him the note.
"Ben, I should give myself up."
"Katherine, we don't have to. We could find a way out." Ben struggled to find the right words.
"Look, it would mean no one gets hurt."
"No Katherine, end of discussion." Ben stormed out of the room, the piece of paper balled up in his hand.
I stepped over the remaining glass and made my way over to the door, Jesse was watching me from his doorway.
"You can't do that."
"Jess, I can do whatever I want."
"Not when you are risking your life." Jess then started towards me and cupped my face with his hand. "Katherine, I don't want to lose you. I love you."
"I love you too Jess. But it is because I love you I wouldn't want to see you get hurt" I moved my head back and his hands dropped. I walked away from Jess and started down the stairs. As Jess and I desended the stairs we heard windows breaking, Jess wrapped his arms around me.
Glass smashed around us, all the windows being were being broken. I felt Jess's breath on my face. I pushed him backwards slightly and walked down the remaining stairs. I stayed on the last step since glass was everywhere.
I heard Ben in the other room, I called out to him.
"Ben are you okay?" I peered over, not wanting to step on the glass, then I saw Ben. "Ben, Oh God!" I ran to him, my feet picking up glass. I knelt beside him. Glass had hit him. Jesse was beside me in an instant. "What do we do?" It almost came out in a whisper.
"This is when we give up." I looked down a tear fell from my eye, they said no one would get hurt. They lied. "I will go out first."
"But Jess-"
"No, if I go out first they will listen, they will help since they want his power." Jess picked up his father and we both walked to the front door. I brushed off a chair and Jess placed his father down. Jess turned and walked to the door. He hand his hand on the knob. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Jess, no matter what happens, I love you." Jess smiled at me and walked out. I looked out the small broken window beside the door and listened.
"Ah, the son." NIckolas came up to him I saw Jess tense up. Two guards came forward and grabbed his arms. Nickolas looked Jesse in the eyes. "Honestly now, boy. What do you want?"
"My father is injured. If you help him we all will go willingly with you."
"Or I could tell you to go in and get the girl for us."
"Yes, but the King wants Ben as well, and you know that." Nickolas looked at Jess for a moment, Nickolas hit him. I gasped.
"Fine, bring out the mind reader, and have the girl walk out here." The guards let go of Jess and he and Nickolas walked toward the door. I opened it as soon as they were close. "Ah, Katherine how are you today?"
Jess walked inside as I brushed the glass on my knees, some had been lodged inside and I was bleeding.
"You are hurt as well, I see." He smirked at us all and motioned for Jess to give Ben to a guard with a red cross. "He will heal him." Jess slowly handed over his father.
"Now Katherine, come with us." He held his hand toward the door. I walked to him, looking at Jess the whole time. I placed my hand on Nickolas' hand and stepped over the barrier. I followed beside him and he led me to his car, the one I was roughly shoved in the other day. Only this time there were men inside. Nickolas gestured me inside, I had to sit between him and a guard. More in the backseat and one in the passenger seat.
"Won't be able to get out of this one." Nickolas turned over the me after I was buckled up. The guard besdie me grabbed my hands and Nickolas shoved on a pair of handcuffs. "Special ones just for you. Ben told us about your elements. Said you had all of them so we are taking extra care." He leaned over me his body ontop of mine. I smelt his cologne, a thivk scent which filled the air. He forced me to look into his eyes.
"Sleep." Was all he had to say, my world became dark.
