Scarlett POV

An owl flew into the house, she landed on the table and dropped a letter. It was my Hogwarts acceptance letter. I stroked the owl over its soft feathery head and gave it some owl treats, before she flew away again. "Mum, my letter is here!" I yelled through the open house excitedly, she was probably just cooking, since it was already six o'clock in the evening. My mother, Andromeda Tonks, walked into the living room and smiled  at me. "Good, then tomorrow we'll go to Diagon Alley with your father." She told me. I gave her a short nod before she went to the kitchen again. I ripped the envelope open and read the letter inside. I hoped I would be sorted in Gryffindor, even though my father had been in Huffelpuff. It didn't matter. The sorting hat would decide, even if I didn't want to. Nymphadora started crying, a sign that she has woken up. "I'll get her." I said to my mum. Dad was still at work. He was an auror at the ministry of magic.

I lifted my little sister and I smelt a horrible smell. I changed her diaper quickly. I dressed her in a simple romper which said: 'I love mummy'. I had one of those too, when I was little. I placed her on my hip and walked downstairs with her. When she saw our mother she giggled and reached for her. She took her from me. "Can you put the plates on the table, dear? Dinner is almost ready," she asked me, after which she said "I wonder when Ted is coming home.." I got three plates and one of Nymphadora's little plates. I placed them on the table. My hair started to annoy me so much, it was just too short. I thought of it being longer and it reached out to my waist. I sighed in relief. "I'll be back in a minute, mum" I said to her. She nodded while turning the beef and stirring the vegetables. I went to my room and brushed my waist length hair. I made two braids, so my hair wouldn't get in my food.

"So, how has your day been?" My dad, Ted Tonks, asked. My mother made a soft humming sound that told him that it was alright. "Daddy, my Hogwarts letter came today!" I said happily to my father. "That's great darling!" He replied. "We will be going to Diagon Alley tomorrow, if that's okay with you?" My mum asked my dad. He nodded once to confirm that we were going to Diagon Alley the next day.

The next day

We went to Diagon Alley through floo powder. We left Nymphadora with my grandparents. "Shall we get your schoolbooks first, honey?" I nodded. My father told me he would be getting my potions stuff and my quills and parchment. My mother bought every single book on the list and I was allowed to buy a few extra's, to read when I'm bored. We walked out to meet up with my father again. I freaked out a bit. What if I was going to be a Slytherin? I didn't want that. My parents would place me out home.

I zoned out, and I bumped into a girl from my age, with long, brown hair. "Watch out where you walk!" She said, and after giving a look at my mother she added "Filthy half breed!" I gasped. How could one be so cruel against muggles, muggleborns, like my father, and half-bloods, like my sister and me. "Watch your language, cousin." My mother spat to the girl. The girls mother walked up to us. "Oh, hello Andromeda." She said my mothers name with venom in her voice. My mother nodded and walked away quickly.

We met up with dad again and mum didn't tell him anything about what happened with the girl and her mother. We went to get my robes at Madam Malkin's. "Hello dear, what can I help you with?" The aged woman called Madam Malkin asked me. "Actually, yes, I am going to Hogwarts this September and I need to get my robes." She smiled at me and told me to go stand on the plateau. She got one of the uniforms that were most likely around my size and I got to fit them. They were a little too big, but Madam Malkin pinned it and sew it together so it would be my size. She handed me it in a bag and even gave me a pair of shoes, free of charge. My parents paid for the clothes and we walked out of the shop.

"Now, off to Olivander's we go!" I said happily. We walked into the shop all together. First me, then mum and lastly dad. "Well hello, Andromeda, Ted, how nice to see you again. And you must be Scarlett." He smiled brightly at me. I nodded. "Indeed, I am Scarlett, and I presume you are mister Olivander? Nice to meet you sir!" He smiled even brighter. "I guess you are here to get your wand, miss Tonks?" Mister Olivander asked me, still smiling. I nodded briefly. He immediately started searching trough all the boxes standing in the cabinets that were standing against the wall. His eyes shimmered against the candle light, he enjoyed his work so much. I smiled. It makes me happy when other people are happy. He hummed and got out one of the boxes. "Try this one out, miss Tonks." He told me. I gave the wand a swish, and one of the windows that looked out at Diagon Alley shattered into a thousand pieces. I gasped and quickly gave the wand back. Mister Olivander chuckled softly. "Reparo"

"Perhaps this one.. Oak, Thestral tail hair, 9 inches." He told me. I gave this one a swish, and a few boxes were spit out of the cabinets. "Or perhaps not.." The older man got another wand out of a box. "Willow, Unicorn hair, 10,5 inches" He handed it to me and right wand it touched my fingertips it started to glow. And I did too. I felt the warmth going through my body. My hair was whipped around my head and I felt wonderful. As if I found a piece of me I always missed. Mister Olivander smiled once again. "Well, that is seven galleons then." My father payed seven galleons and we left the store. "Well, that's it I guess." My mother said, but my father shook his head. "You can go home, I'll buy Scarlett her birthday present." He was happy. His eyes sparkled in the sunlight. My mum and I walked back to The Leaky Cauldron while dad walked further into Diagon Alley. I went into the fireplace and dropped the floo powder. The green flames spat out of the fireplace and licked my body. It didn't hurt, it just tickled a bit. I called out the name of our home and I felt the familiar feeling of being pulled at and squished into a ball at the same time. I stepped out of the fireplace into the living room. Not even a moment later my mother stepped out and the fireplace kept quiet.
